Once you arrive you'll marvel at the scale of the house. From inside, it is deceptively generous in every way. First we loved the enormous windows allowing light to flow in throughout the house. Dismiss any preconceptions of low Welsh farmhouses, this is one big and beautiful family home...you'll love it.
We quickly discovered two of everything that make life comfortable - here's a taster: two dishwashers, two wood burning stoves, a couple of cots and highchairs, a place to play tennis, a large indoor area plus a table tennis room.....get the idea, generosity abounds. The kitchen is perfect for rustling up a succession of large meals, or we can happily provide details of caterers should you prefer someone else to do the cooking. Dining is a pleasure, the table comfortably seats fourteen, with an open fire, lots of tea light holders and an uninterrupted view across the rolling Herefordshire countryside.
Relaxing is high on the agenda. There is a light-filled drawing room with large sofas, comfortable chairs and a wood burning stove with a generous basket of firewood and kindling. There is also a games room, with more comfortable sofas, SkyTV and DVD player, as well as lots of toys for younger children and also a wood burning stove to entice the young to stay put for a cosy evening of entertainment.
Designed with comfort in mind all around, all the adult bedrooms are similar in size and design, with four super-king size zip and link beds, conveniently converting into twins if required. A handy ground floor double, as well as a twin, a quad and two singles (one of the singles adjoins another bedroom) on other floors complete the layout. Six bathrooms and a cloakroom keep bathroom squabbles to a minimum!
Outside, there is a huge garden, overlooking land largely owned by the property, perfect for your morning stroll before breakfast with the dog. Complete with BBQ and outdoor furniture, this is the perfect space for entertaining and dining alfresco in summer months.
With heaps to explore in the surrounding area, from National Trust finds to the highlight of Hay on Wye and the fabulous nearby pub, this is one large family holiday you'll want to repeat year after year. Just check out the visitor book entries to see the "fan mail"!
