As close as could be to the country border, and proudly perched atop a hill in idyllic surroundings, this pretty little abode epitomises everything that a cosy cottage should be, with quaint touches around every corner. Amble along the short garden path, shaded by beautiful foliage and lined with flowers, to reach the sweet doorway into the holiday hideaway where you will enter into the open plan kitchen and dining area.
Open the door to discover low, beam-fringed ceilings that evoke a cosy cottage vibe from the moment you enter. To the left, you will find a spacious dining area with a traditional wooden table and chairs for you and your guests to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals together. Behind the wooden shutters, original windows with views onto the front lawn allow light to flood the area, whilst the single armchair and farmhouse dresser add a quirky element to the room.
Echoing a similar, traditional farmhouse style, the kitchen is beautifully finished, creating a space that is not only inviting, but will make you want to cook even while you’re on holiday! Well-equipped for all your culinary needs, you will find an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer should you require it whilst away. It’s the perfect place to whip up a storm using fresh, local ingredients you would never normally get in your home town.
Through the kitchen, take a few steps down into the lounge, where the homely ambiance is palpable as soon as you sit down to relax. Fire up the wood burner to keep the chill off of an evening, then wind down on the comfortable sofa or armchair, where you can read a book, listen to some music, or enjoy a film together on the TV/DVD. During the summer, the wood burner may not be necessary, but the French doors certainly provide a gentle breeze flowing through the room. On warm evenings, open them up to enjoy access to the private courtyard and make the most of the mild nights.
When it’s time to unwind, the bedrooms can be found upstairs; the master bedroom is on the first floor, in which you will discover an opulent four-poster bed, fit for royalty. There is also a sofa to sink into and relax, and the high beamed ceilings only add to the grandeur of the space. Also on this floor you will find a beautiful bathroom, which features a striking claw-foot bathtub for you to truly relax in style.
Head up to the second floor, and you will come across the second of the two bedrooms. This light, airy space has a sumptuous double bed, plus an additional day bed. The views out across the valley are breath-taking, so don’t be deterred by the having to climb more steps – it’s certainly worth it! The lovely en-suite on this floor also has a shower and WC.
Outside, there are two glorious gardens, allowing you the optimum space to soak up the country air and summer sunshine. Through the French doors off the lounge there is seating in the private courtyard, and there is also another pretty garden accessed via the dining area with seating.
