This charming, bespoke-built shepherd’s hut, surrounded by farmland and unspoiled countryside, offers the perfect, tranquil retreat for two. Surprisingly spacious, with a stylish interior, cosy wood burner and private hot tub, it has double doors that open to peaceful views of rural Herefordshire. There are lovely walks on the doorstep and glorious landscapes to explore, while the spectacular Malvern Hills (17 miles) are within easy reach. The pretty market town of Ledbury, just 7 miles away, has a wealth of fine historic buildings, and an excellent range of independent shops.
A tree-lined drive leads past the working farm and up towards this delightful hideaway, built with reclaimed materials. The airy, open-plan space has heated floors and a vaulted ceiling. Cleverly designed, it includes separate areas for a comfortable sofa, complete with soft Welsh blankets, a kitchen plus dining area and a sumptuous king-size bed covered by a beautiful patchwork quilt. A shower room and WC complete the layout. Outside the double doors, a small, part-enclosed garden houses the hot tub and patio furniture. To the front, wooden steps lead to a small terrace, with a handy rack for muddy boots. There’s also a storage area for bikes.
A shop and pub are within 3 miles, and foodies can enjoy stocking up on fine local produce sold in picturesque Ledbury. The town is known for its remarkable black and white timber-framed houses; wander its cobbled streets and alleys to explore galleries, bookshops and specialist shops. Visit the Heritage Centre, the 17th-century Market House and the fascinating 16th-century Painted Room, on Church Street. Ledbury is surrounded by abundant orchards, and you can sample the delicious home-grown fruit on tasting tours run by local cider producers.
