Locally you’ll find plenty to satiate your thirst for stunning scenery, whether it’s driving 4.5 miles to the Usk Reservoir for a circular walk or heading up the local peak, Cefn Llechid (5 miles), to admire the panoramic views. If you’re keen to tick a classic route off your list, don’t miss the trek up to Pen y Fan (13.5 miles), the tallest peak in South Wales at 886m above sea level. The town of Brecon (12 miles), where the rivers Usk and Honddu meet, is a lovely spot to while away an afternoon, with its medieval cathedral and 1930s cinema.
