Discover the beauty of the Brecon Beacons when you stay at this gorgeous cottage at the heart of the bustling market town of Brecon. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway sits in a fabulous position at the gateway to splendid Bannau Brycheiniog, also known at the Becon Beacons National Park, and yet is also close to shops and eateries. It comes with a wood burner for cosy evenings in and a courtyard for outside dining in the summer.
Cross the footbridge to let yourselves into the adorable, three-storey retreat at first-floor level. Find yourselves in an inviting lounge, which has some exposed stonework and is where you can light the wood burner and unwind together in front of the Smart TV. There is also a family bathroom, with freestanding bath, on this floor. When mealtimes beckon, follow the stairs down to the lower ground floor, where the kitchen/diner is situated. Rustle up tasty meals with the Welsh ingredients you have bought in Brecon. Open the doors on to the courtyard in here on warm days. The bedrooms, a twin and a double that both offer a great night’s sleep, are up on the first floor of the cottage. Have morning coffee and breakfast out in the courtyard on fine days before heading off on your next adventure.
Stroll 300 metres to visit impressive Brecon Castle, which looks out over the confluence of the rivers Afon Honddu and Afon Usk. Follow Captain’s Walk on foot to see the historic remains of Brecon’s medieval walls or take a trip by water along Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Find a myriad of footpaths to follow through your scenic surroundings and plan a day trip to the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye to peruse its many shops and pause in its cafes and tea rooms.
