Tucked away up a leafy lane, in the eastern reaches of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the cottage is the perfect cottage to explore the very best of what the Black Mountains has to offer.
There are spectacular walks straight out into the Black Mountains from the door, or cross the lane to the Sugar Loaf Mountain to "bag a trig." For those with small children, there are gentler strolls along the river, or to the nearby country pub. Alternatively sit back and enjoy the cosy wood burning stove, owner Vicks home made cake, or treat yourseld and head off to the Walnut Tree Inn for some Michelin starred dining in Wales official Foodie County.
The property is a lovely old stone holiday cottage, equally suited to a group of four mates or a family. Set on the edge of a quiet hamlet, with rambling rose bushes, fabulous elderflowers for home made cordial and a pretty sunny garden in which to enjoy an impromptu picnic and a whole chorus of birdsong to complete the picture of the perfect country retreat.
Just 3 miles from the market town of Abergavenny with its' Norman Castle, farmer's markets and well established annual Food Festival each September, there is plenty to do to fill a week or two. You can even enjoy some hearty mountain biking and pony trekking nearby.
Simple whitewashed walls, touches of art picked by the online art gallery owner, exposed beams and an essential wood burner which is the focal point downstairs, the property gives you a great taste of country cottage living.
For those who love the location, but would like to try something different, have a peek at The Wood Shack, an off grid, romantic eco-retreat hidden away under the tree canopy.
