This property may have its roots in the 16th Century, but it has had a serious injection of 21st Century style and gadgetry to make it the perfect hide away for the savviest of travellers...now with a lovely new wood fired private hot tub and table tennis table to enjoy too! Set just beneath Lord Hereford's Knob and Hay Bluff, in the Black Mountains (part of the Brecon Beacons National Park) with acres of outdoor space, as well as a private waterfall and babbling brook, this stunning setting really has to be seen to be believed.

Lovingly restored, with bags of character, as well as Wi-Fi, 2 log burners, under floor heating and an electric Aga, there are traditional touches of fresh natural lime wash, subtle Farrow and Ball shades, original cruck oak beams and slate flagstones throughout. There is also a fantastic, huge shower head from the Savoy Hotel in one of the two luxury bathrooms, making getting up in the morning even more enjoyable!

This cottage has three very beautiful bedrooms, the huge master bedroom has a king-size bed, a fabulous adjoining bathroom, with roll top bath, hand held shower, loo and basin, as well as beautiful bed linen and fluffy towels all included. There is an additional single bed in this room which can be made up, making it perfect for families with small children. There is another large super-king zip and link bedroom, plus another super king-size zip and link bedroom with extra bed, which can be made up to sleep another adult, or again, great for children sharing.

This cottage is perfect for doing as much or as little as you like, stock up with goodies from the local deli, enjoy a game of pool, and doze in-front of the log burners for the afternoons, or stride, pedal or ride out across some of the country's most beautiful terrain, right from the doorstep.

For an active holiday there is a riding centre, a canoe centre and an adventure training centre all within a few short miles. Not forgetting the fabulous Hay on Wye, home of the famous Hay Festival, with 30 bookshops, great cafes and some rarely found independent shopping. You'll love it!

The house is so comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. It's in the most perfect location for incredible walks straight out of the house. We loved our time there and will be back!

Very simply we could not wish for more. Excellent value for money. A real heaven from modern life. Spacious but cosy. We did not use the cars the whole time. We will be back!

Very remote up a narrow country lane, a real home from home comfy cottage. Surrounded by grazing sheep, an array of birdsong, and other wildlife. Beautiful walks from the door (can easily walk up Lord Hereford's knob and back in 3hours including rest breaks) 15mins drive into Hay on Wye, half an hour drive to Brecon and about 45mins to Hereford. This is a stunning period house in a beautiful, wild location. We particularly liked the garden and brook running through it, which is well enclosed so no worry of your dog escaping. Hay bluff house is a lovely large welcoming house, we go annually as a family and enjoy it more each year! The hot tub under the stars is great, the enclosed garden is fabulous and good for the two dogs. The kitchen area is spacious and we enjoy cooking there together. There are lovely walks on your doorstep the views are breathtaking. Beautiful location, but be warned of 2 mile single track road to get there. Lots of great facilities on site, everything you need, be aware table tennis and extra logs are in the out house. Third time staying here. Really lovely place. Hope to be back again. Changes to last time is now there is charge for logs which is totally understandable but the hot tub really gobbles up the supply. The cottage was lovely and the location was ideal. Perhaps the rate was high due to the hay festival but it was over priced and not quite as nice as the photos suggested. Kitchen, oven and bathrooms were not as clean on arrival as i would expect. Some of the fittings and furniture were not to a high standard yet others were. It was a mixed bag.
