"We had such a great stay in Trew Cottage, thanks so much for organising the early check-in and late check-out it was much appreciated. We all hope to use you again really soon (especially my daughter Noa who cried as we left!)."
The Wood Family
"A secluded, large family space - we loved our getaway here with our babies, friends and the roaring fire. The local villages were really friendly and they have the best cliff walks to some great tea rooms!"
Jonathan, Millie and Family
"We've had a lovely cosy winter weekend away from it all in this great find. Many nearby activities too and very helpful suggestions of where to go and what to do provided. All in all a perfect break and we'll be back!"
Joe and friends
"A fantastically spacious and pretty country cottage in a beautiful and rugged section of the North Devon coastline. Great times exploring all the secret local coves and surrounding countryside."
The Bossy Family
Trew Cottage
A rare find in Devon, a lovely old cottage which retains much of its character and all of its views, with acres of privacy, country walks from the door and a short ten minute drive to the beach.
Set in four acres of grass and lush meadow, the cottage has fantastic views of the surrounding farmland and its own small borders with a plentiful supply of herbs to provide your bar-b-ques with flavour throughout your stay.
Inside, there is a separate wooden kitchen with simple hand-painted units and a fresh Farrow and Ball paint makeover. The sitting room and dining room are open plan, with tasteful French windows in the dining area, which lead out on to a terrace with another set of dining furniture and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
The sitting room has a wonderful open fire place, with a plentiful supply of logs for cosy evenings in-front of the fire. There are two large sofas on either side of the fireplace, with great views and a coffee table in the middle, designed to be covered with your week's reading materiel. There are plenty of reads in the bookshelf, should you run out of books and magazines! There is also a lovely antique table in the sitting room, which has been know to have a jigsaw spread out on it for weeks at a time!
There is a downstairs playroom, which always has a basket of children's toys available, although there are plenty more in the drawers upstairs in the bunk bed room. This room also has an occasional bed in it which can sleep an extra guest. Particularly great if older relatives are coming too as it is right next door to the bathroom.
This is a perfect family holiday cottage and the family dog is very welcome too! With beaches, riding stables, a golf course and a wealth of tea rooms nearby, you shouldn't run out of things to do. The Milky Way theme park is just a few minutes drive away, which will delight most children with its rollercoasters, soft play and wild bird shows.

- PETS: One well behaved dog is very welcome, please call or email us to discuss any additional pets.
- BEACH: There are a number of fantastic beaches on the North Devon / Cornish coastline, many within a short drive of Trew Cottage. The National Trust Sandymouth beach is a favourite with many as it has a little cafe where you can hire wetsuits and warm up with a much needed hot chocolate after a dip in the sea!
- SURF: The Atlantic waves make great surfing along the coastline. Either bring your own or nip into Zuma Jay in Bude for lessons and equipment hire.
- WALK: Coastal walks are plentiful, or try a more gentle stroll around the farmland near the cottage and say hello to the neighbours tiny shetland pony enroute.
- TOWNS: The pretty village of Clovelly is nearby for cream teas or a pint by the Harbour Wall. Bideford is twenty minutes away with shopping and an outlet village, or Bude is twenty minutes in the other direction.
- DINING: The Old Smithy Inn gets our vote for the best pub in the area, under new ownership and very child friendly. For keen foodies, Jamie Oliver's Number 15 in Watergate Bay is about 80 minutes drive and Rick Stein's in Padstow can be reached in just over an hour. Well worth booking in advance for either one.
