Porthmawr House
Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons
Built on the vaulted cellars of a fortified, 15th Century manor house, with the original gatehouse still intact, Porthmawr is steeped in history and forms an important part of the mystique and origins of the mountain town of Crickhowell.
Now offering luxury group accommodation, this grand old dame was rebuilt in the Regency style in 1825 and again over the past decade by its current owners, who have lovingly restored it into a luxurious, nine bedroom family home.
Despite its clean structural lines and impressive art collection, Porthmawr is a remarkably relaxed place to stay. Every detail has been thought of from hairdryers, televisions and coffee facilities in each room, to an enormous catering oven, so someone else can take over the domestic burden if necessary during your stay!
Outside there are three acres of wide, flat (rare around here!) grounds and heaps of tasteful wooden tables and chairs to ensure you can enjoy overlooking the dramatic vista of the Brecon Beacons National Park from every angle!
To ensure you can have your country fix whilst in this grand rural town house, there are some very cute pet pigs to be found dozing on their straw on the drive in and a lots of lovely ducks splashing away in the nearby pond! The house also makes a fantastic venue for a country wedding.
