"Have just returned from a few days in the Yurt - what a fantastic time - Keith and Emily are marvellous - bringing wood, beef and chorizo. Not only will I be recommending your website to my friends, i will definitely be recommending the Yurt as a fantastic holiday destination. Thank you." Sheila and friends
"We have just returned from our four night stay at the Black Mountain Yurt. It was totally fantastic!!! We loved every minute. It is such a beautiful spot and the yurt had everything you possibly need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Emily and Keith made us very welcome and we loved the sausages and chorizo they gave us.... it was so delicious. The kids loved the trampoline and rope swing and playing near the river. Seeing the donkeys and pony and Keith even asked us to come and visit the newly born calf, which was just amazing!

We would recommend this wonderful yurt holiday to everyone! we can't wait to come back."

"We had the good fortune to spend four days at the yurt in the Black Mountains last week. We have 2 lively boys aged 6 and 9 and both they and us had a wonderful time. We loved the river running through the land, chopping wood, the vast stove, outside fires, the hammock, the whistling kettle to mention but a few. The eldest boy said “it was the best farming holiday we’ve been on” and already the boys are asking when we can return. They have both taken photos of our holiday in to their school for “show and tell” as well as the 2 large cow bones that Keith gave the boys! Keith and Emily were amazing and made us feel extremely welcome. Their free packs of home-made sausages went down a treat and the boys really appreciated being allowed to feed the newborn calf. Please pass on our sincere thanks to Keith, Emily, the boys and the bump for a most memorable holiday." Kay, Richard, Andy and Stuart Moseley
'We enjoyed a dip in the stream and lying on the bench watching the sky sparkle with the odd shooting star'. Jo & Ben and family
'We will be back one day and are very sad to leave and go back to the "real" world'. Martha & Jake
"Recommendations for The Bell at Glangrwyney and Llanthony pony trekking. Also, I have been running up Crug Mawr in the evenings and it has been like heaven up there, the views are properly out of this world. As it is only a 45 min walk up straight from the yurt it has to be a recommendation to take a bottle of wine or a cold beer up there of a sunny summer evening then back for a dip in the whirly pool! The honeymooners!
If you are looking for the perfect escape to the country then look no further. The Black Mountain Yurt is all about getting back to nature with a sprinkle of luxury thrown in for good measure. An absolutely fabulous week of sunshine, adventure, relaxation, peace and quiet. The commanding views were a joy to wake up to. With three children in tow, I can say it was a pleasure (sincerely) - not one single moan. Every day was spent wading through the river, hiking around the woodlands, frollicking in the meadow and enjoying the campfires. Highly recommend for all ages, whether it be for pleasure, adventure or to simply unwind. Thank-you Keith for such a warm welcome, and for allowing us to share your little piece of heaven. The Hockey Family
"What a wonderful weekend - stunning views, peace and quiet and a place to escape from everything. The children didn't even notice there was no television as country walks right from the yurt, hours spent playing in the river and relaxing in the hammock were top of the agenda for the weekend. Even the rain did not stop this from being one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed. Fantastic!" Jo, Paul, Abby(6) and Ben(4), Wimbledon.

Black Mountains Yurt

Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons
Black Mountains Yurt is the ultimate, luxury outdoor escape. It's incredibly cosy inside, with sheepskin rugs, warm Welsh wool blankets and an enormous wood burning stove kicking out lots of heat, as well as boiling the water for your morning cuppa!

In a spectacular location, a short drive from one of our favourite mountain towns, Crickhowell and a short river walk to the local pub. This yurt was originally designed for the owners to live in, so they have picked the very best spot on the 50 acres plot to pitch it. With amazing views and an eye for detail ensuring every comfort is taken care of.

Literally off the beaten track, Black Mountains Yurt is set just below a hill-farm, completely private and unseen from the country lanes, you can really escape modern day life and worry about little else than catching some trout in the river, stoking the fire and finishing your book. Pass by the friendly cows and new apple orchard en-route, once there you just won't want to leave, the view is simply beautiful.

Set on a wooden base to ensure the yurt stays warm and dry, there is local master craftsmanship and a commitment to recycling on show throughout. With a hand-made, oak double bed, hand-made "kitchen" worktop and fabulous large dining table and benches, made from wood cut from the surrounding land.

Step across the track to your own hand painted shepherd hut, with an old fashioned claw foot bath and piping hot running water ensuring you can luxuriate in a long soak, with a view, at the end of the day. There is a basin and loo too, with another wood burner in the bathroom to ensure you keep really cosy.

The mountain biking and walking is second to none and should you get tired of all that greenery (!), then the famous book town of Hay on Wye is just thirty minutes away, the market town of Abergavenny with its fabulous food festival is ten minutes drive, Crickhowell is just 5 minutes down the lane and the village pub is within walking distance!
