"We have so enjoyed our stay here, with such great facilities. We had always wanted to explore Hay on Wye and it far surpassed our expectations. Loved exploring the area and to return every evening to such a comfortable place." Helen & Peter
"What a beautiful place! The cottage was everything we had hoped for and more. Infact we found it hard to leave and spent the last day sitting in the garden enjoying the rare silence. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we will be back!" The Cairns

Grooms Barn

Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons
Set just a few hundred yards from the River Wye, the views of the Black Mountains as you drive into Grooms Barn are truly spectacular and provide great inspiration for endless holiday walks and bike rides.

A lovely old Georgian stable block, the hay and straw has long been replaced by wooden floors, a cosy wood burner and warm Welsh blankets, providing a great holiday spot from which to explore the area.

Step into a safely enclosed front garden, with barbeque waiting and original stone cobbles still in place, through the big front door and into a fabulous open plan space with a modern Shaker style kitchen to your left and a lovely contemporary sitting room area to your right, complete with wood burner.

Upstairs there is a cracking view of the Black Mountains as you climb the top of the stairs, there's a lovely master bedroom, a comfortable twin, suitable for both adults and children and a fresh contemporary bathroom.

There are lots of outdoor things to do from Grooms Barn, rent a canoe in nearby Glasbury, or just laze away the afternoon enjoying a delicious Italian meal from the River Cafe right next door to the canoe shop. There is pony trekking throughout the hills from the Llanthony Valley, or take your pick from wild swimming in the Wye, fishing, hiking or mountain biking, all in easy reach.

Hay on Wye is close at hand for hours of browsing the thirty + second-hand book shops, independent antique shops and local galleries. It's a great place to stock up on yummy local food too, our favourites are Shepherd's, serving delicious sheep's milk ice cream and the greengrocer and deli could keep you well fed, between them all week!
