Sycamore Barn

Perched on Llangattock Hillside with magnificent views across to the Sugar Loaf and Black Mountains National Park, this cosy retreat has been immaculately converted from an old stone barn into a beautiful holiday home in the hills.

With a dramatic spiral staircase and huge glass doors, every attempt has been made to maximise the light in this lovely old barn. Downstairs you can enjoy relaxing in the cosy sitting room with flat screen television and DVD player, or plug in your iPod to the smart Bose docking station to fill the barn with sound. There is a simple, self catering kitchen, with a view and a dishwasher and washing machine! There is also a second bathroom downstairs with a decent shower.

Upstairs there is lovely mezzanine twin bedroom with exposed stone walls and beams, which is the perfect place for children to spend the night in. The bedroom is completely enclosed, so quite safe and the beds are a decent size, so adults will be comfortable as well. With crisp white sheets and soft pillows a good nights sleep is assured! There is an en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and loo in the twin bedroom.

Further up the spiral staircase is a large king-size bedroom with a huge comfortable bed, marshmallow duvet and a great feeling of space and light, courtesy of the skylights, providing great views of the surrounding Black Mountains.

Should you grow tired of shutting yourself away from the world, there is 55, 000 acres of common land on your doorstep, as well as some of Europe's most interesting and challenging cave networks. Plus a whole host of walking and cycling trails throughout the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. For less strenuous moments, nip down into the lovely village of Crickhowell for the morning newspaper and a delicious latte in the Number 18, the local organic coffee shop.
Quick checklist
  • SLEEPS 2-4 (+1): A large king-size bedroom at the top of the barn, plus a lovely en-suite twin bedroom with exposed stone walls and two single beds. There is also a double sofabed downstairs, should you need a spare bed for the night, so the barn can stretch to 5 people.
  • BATHING: Shower room with loo and power shower downstairs. Upstairs there is an en-suite bathroom with tasteful white bath, basin and loo. Lots of fluffy towels provided.
  • EATING: Well equipped cosy kitchen with dining table and chairs, electric oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher.
  • RELAXING: Two large sofas, a sofabed, a large flat screen television, i-pod dock and a DVD player. The sitting room is very comfortable with three large barn doors / windows which can be opened out to flood the barn with light.
