  • Conveniently located for both the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons
Property code: 42938

Beautifully restored former Coach House set in a quiet village location, the property is a great base to explore what the area has to offer.

A former Coach House, with metal tying up rings for the horses still intact, this lovely old stone cottage sits in a fine location in the pretty Welsh Border village of Grosmont (it frequently tops the Sunday Times list of being one of Britain's best places to live). Centrally located, it's a great base for exploring the fabulous restaurants to be found in Abergavenny, Monmouth & Herefordshire, as well as having the historic Wye Valley in one direction and the dramatic Brecon Beacons National Park in the other, so whatever your style of holiday, The Coach House should gladly fit the bill!

Cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the cottage location, with spectacular routes from the village out across Garway Hill, Ewyas Harold Common and towards neighbouring Herefordshire, or on to the beautiful Forest of Dean. Many of these routes are equally good on foot and there is a very satisfying walk between the Three Castles of Grosmont, White Castle and Skenfrith with a lovely pub in Skenfrith to break the day trip..highly recommended!

The cottage itself was lived in by the owner for a short while, so it has been elegantly re-decorated to ensure that it really is very comfortable and thoughtfully considered so guests can spend a week or more without wanting for anything, located in the grounds of the owners home your privacy is respected at all times and there are some helpful benefits of a quiet neighbour who will gladly take delivery of an on-line shop prior to arrival.

Perfectly formed, you step in to the bright living space, with cosy sofa and relaxing chairs arranged by the fireplace, with television, dvd, traditional games and lots of local reads and maps to enjoy. An open plan layout, with dining table and well equipped kitchen, all you should need for rustling up some local fayre...plus the local pub menu should you prefer for someone else to do the cooking!

Two well behaved dogs are very welcome here, with beautiful walks from the door and a handy garden hose and separate area for drying muddy paws.

Upstairs you will find a comfortable bedroom, large enough for a babe in arms to share too. As well as bathroom with bath, basin and loo, towels, bedding and toileteries all included.

There is a sunny terrace area, with views across the garden and on towards Craig Hill, one of the many lovely hills well worth climbing during your stay...or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the view!

The perfect holiday cottage in a beautiful setting located in a picturesque and very quiet village (with a good pub). If you like bird watching the garden was full of birds. Ideal location for walkers especially if you intend doing the 3 castles walk. We had a very relaxing week thank you to the best host.

This property has a near idyllic setting and the owner's beautiful adjoining garden can be used. It is situated in a small friendly village with an excellent pub. The owner was friendly and helpful. The small bathroom and the lack of a proper shower are the only drawbacks. I would both recommend this property and would certainly enjoy a return visiRead moret. Hide
