An inspiring detached barn conversion with hot tub and games room, on the Shropshire and Mid Wales borders. Set in a 24-acre garden, perfect to relax, enjoy activities and explore the countryside.

Book a group stay at this beautiful former barn, surrounded by breath-taking Mid Wales scenery on the Cwm Weeg estate, 2 miles from both Dolfor and Newtown. Up to eight guests can stay at the striking, four-bedroom property, which nestles in gardens of 24 acres, and includes a hot tub and games room. Well positioned for outdoor activities, including cycling, climbing, fishing and hiking, it could be perfect for a group of friends or two or three families hoping to holiday together.

Enter to find traditional barn character through beams and vaulted ceilings married with a modern interior style featuring a palette of bright shades. From the hall, there is access down to the basement, where the utility room and games room are situated. Back at ground-floor level, find a capacious kitchen/diner, where you can cook together and sit down to holiday meals. Make your way into the lounge to watch TV, light the wood burner or throw open the French doors. The property has two king-size bedrooms and a twin, plus the family bathroom. A fourth bedroom suite enjoys private access via steps and boasts its own a king-size bedroom, TV, kitchen area, shower room and sunroom. Spill out into the magical grounds to discover wildflower meadows, bubble in the hot tub and light the BBQ. There is storage for bicycles and plenty of parking at the barn.

Pack a picnic and head out on foot to explore the Welsh Marches. Venture 3.5 miles to cross the border into England and Shropshire. Head into Newton, on the banks of the River Severn, to go shopping. Llanfair Caereinion, 14 miles away and tucked in the heart of old Montgomeryshire’s beautiful Banwy Valley, is also worth a visit. Catch a train along the Welshpool to Llanfair Light Railway from here.

Amazing stay this weekend. The house and grounds were absolutely fantastic, blown away by the work done around the gardens by the owners, who were also very friendly and showed us around their incredible property. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend away.

Wonderful remote location for a get away from it all break. Cottage was very well-equipped with four good sized bedrooms. Table tennis table and hot tub got plenty of use. The gardens and surrounding woodland provide plenty of walking opportunities. Would be very keen to book again, maybe in the summer

Our stay at 'The Artists Garden House' (The Gatehouse) this month was wonderful. Five of us had such a great time. Kingsley and Wolfgang were so lovely to us, making us feel at home. The gardens are magical...inspiring...beautiful - during the day, and at night. We spent a lovely afternoon sitting in the grounds, painting (we're all novices, but were inspired). We had a murder mystery, dressed for dinner, explored, read, played board games, and the hot tub was great too. Kingsley and Wolfgang have created such a lovely home, gardens and Gatehouse that they should be seen by others who love beautiful gardens and quirky creative homes. They also advised us on places to visit that were inspiring too. Thank you both for opening up your great space to us, and particularly for your openness and acceptance as we are a quirky bunch. x
