After a glorious day hiking Waun Fach or kayaking at Llangorse Lake, come home to this impressive Georgian home to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. The kitchen on the lower ground floor has everything you need to create a culinary masterpiece. You’ll love hosting a dinner party in the formal dining room, which has a wonderful feature fireplace. Alternatively, head outside to the patio, fire up the BBQ and host a garden party. After dinner, take a dip in the outdoor hot tub or grab a spot by the fire pit. Alternatively, catch up with loved ones over a glass of wine in the palatial lounge; warm your toes by the wood burner in the cosy snug; or head to the games’ barn to challenge your nearest and dearest at table tennis. You’ll find some lovely old castle ruins in the adjoining grounds, so you don’t have to stroll far to find something magical. If you want to get on the water, head to Llangorse Lake (17 miles) – the largest natural lake in Wales – where you can hire rowing boats, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes. Or indulge in a little retail therapy in the quirky independent boutiques in Hay-on-Wye (5.5 miles).

Such a spacious delightful property backing onto the ground works of a Mott and Bailey castle. The gardens are lovely with the hot tub and patio catching the sun.

This is a beautiful cottage set in a stunning location. This comfortable, quirky cottage is amazing. The farm itself is fascinating (especially at lambing time) and beautiful wild countryside around wonderful for walkers, runners and photographers alike. The shepherds welcomed us into the lambing shed anytime answering all the childrens questions! We had a wonderful stay. Nine of us met to use it as a writing retreat, and self catered. The kitchen was a joy - everything was provided. Absolutely gorgeous home from home. Couldnt have wished for a better venue for my big birthday. Suzanne was really helpful and left us Welsh cakes, wine and chocolates. Very spoilt. Spectacular views, hot tub is a dream and the sound of birds made it extra special. The Roast Ox on Sunday for lunch was outstanding.

We stayed at The Castle this week, there were 16 of us in total, the house had plenty of space and never felt over crowed, everyone enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit, which is tucked away. The hosts were really helpful, replied back to messages very quickly. The views were amazing. I would definitely recommend this cottage
