In the heart of North Wales, this 19th-century stone cottage is an ideal rural retreat for couples. Nestled in a secluded position on the eastern outskirts of Snowdonia National Park, the cottage is surrounded by unbridled countryside with picturesque walks in every direction. One of three cottages around a shared courtyard, the property has a shared garden and a games room. The owners have also created a wildlife sanctuary within the 9 acres, including a lake and wildflower meadows – the perfect place for an evening stroll. The historic market town of Bala is 9 miles away and sits at the northern end of Wales’ largest natural lake, Llyn Tegid.

Within its traditional stone exterior, guests will find a surprisingly contemporary interior, where original features sit alongside more modern fixtures/fittings to create a welcoming space for visitors. After discarding boots in the lobby, head into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where you can cook, relax and dine in style. A wood burner adds warmth in the winter, but in the summer, throw open the French doors and let the countryside sounds fill the room. A spacious double bedroom and contemporary shower room complete the accommodation. Outside, enjoy a quiet drink on the private patio, or take a picnic to one of many seating areas within the shared grounds.

Situated between the towns of Corwen (10.5 miles) and Betws-y-Coed (14.5 miles), outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element. A range of walking trails and routes start in Corwen, including some challenging ones on the North Berwyn Way. Betws-y-Coed is in a gorgeous valley in the heart of Snowdonia, and has many outdoor equipment shops and independent eateries. For walkers looking for a challenge, majestic Mount Snowdon is only 30 miles from the property; and you can even catch the train to the summit.

This place is even better than it looks, you can tell Gail and Jerry are very passionate about it. The cottage was clean and tidy with everything you could need. We had an amazing day at Owl Roost cottage, Spotlessly clean, it had everything you could ever need, they have thought of everything, from cotton pads to take make up off, to a drinks carrier to bring your drinks with you to the hot tub! We arrived to a festive, cosy but spacious cottage with a lovely welcome gift, thank you. Waking up to the views each morning was a blessing. For a north wales holiday/getaway there is no better place. Cottage is situated near to all the link roads but it is totally quiet in its placement. Awesome views, nice grounds, modern appliances, comfort throughout. Gail and Jerry are on hand if needed and greeted us on arrival however do not interfere with too much which is a lovely balance.
