Make a romantic retreat to this enticing barn apartment nestled in countryside just outside Hay-on-Wye. Sleeping just two guests, the one-bedroom, stone retreat is right on the border of Wales and England and makes a perfect base for exploring the beautiful borderlands, as well as Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as Brecon Beacons National Park, and the famous book town of Hay itself. It comes with a private terrace for basking in the sunshine on summer days and a wood burner for cosy winter evenings in.

Let yourselves into the inviting bolthole, which sits on the ground floor of the barn. Enjoy features, such as exposed stonework and timbers, as well the attractive finish through the likes of flagstone floors. At the heart of the apartment is the lounge, where you can soak up the heat of the wood burner on chilly days or open the French doors on to the patio during the summer months. Watch TV, chat and make your plans in here for the following day. Head through to the kitchen/diner to whip up romantic meals for two then set the table and open a bottle of wine before you sit down to eat. At the end of each lovely day away together, amble through to your king-size bedroom for a sumptuous night’s sleep. Wake up to enjoy the views out across the countryside before taking a refreshing shower. Have breakfast and morning coffee out on the patio and cook supper on the BBQ out here too on occasion.

Explore the many bookshops and galleries of Hay, 1 mile away, and dine out here too. Go canoeing on the picturesque River Wye and follow a section of long-distance footpath Offa’s Dyke. Head into the national park to find other trails to follow and Welsh beauty spots to visit.

This is a really lovely cottage on a working farm so chickens and geese around in yard where car is parked at front of cottage. Viewof field with goats at the rear. Small seating area at rear would have been nice if weather had been appropriate for sitting out. The position on the road out of Hay means there is a short walk into the town but near tRead moreo co-op for any provisions needed. Hide

Great cottage with a super view over the field - we loved watching the geese and goats. We felt very welcome and the cottage was very comfortable and warm (unseasonably chilly outside). An easy walk into Hay and lots of paths nearby meant we could forget about the car which was wonderful.

Lovely little cottage, ideal for the 2 of us. Easy walking distance from Hay but quiet and out of the way. Appreciated the Christmas touches and the stove was wonderful after our wet walks!

An excellent property and a pleasure to stay. The farm animals are enthralling to watch but not intrusive. Close to the Coop and not too far from the town. Many thanks for a great holiday.

Charming barn conversion (lower barn) Perfectly positioned.Short walk of 5mins to CO-OP for supplies & 5mins further on is Hay-on-Wye. Very quiet and tranquil. If you go in summer there are lots of flies, as it's a farm, so not able to sit out nor open windows. Otherwise it was a lovely relaxing location.
