A deceptively spacious shepherd hut with wood burner, for couples seeking a rural bolthole in the heart of the Mid-Wales countryside with walks from the doorstep.

Situated in front of the owner’s traditional longhouse, discover wonderful walks straight from the door through woodland and fields, escaping the stresses and strains of modern life. With glorious views across the fields towards the Epynt Mountain and the valley below, sit with a coffee and enjoy breakfast as the sun comes up over the Welsh countryside.

Stylish with patterned soft furnishings and doors to open to the elements on warm evenings, this hut makes for a unique sleeping experience waking to stunning views. Dine at the pull-out table and chairs before curling up in one of the cosy chairs and chatting in front of the flickering flames of the wood burner. Outside, the garden has pretty borders and a patio, perfect for morning coffee or an evening BBQ, taking a moment to stargaze on a clear night. Dine alfresco on your private balcony, spotting wildlife as you sip morning coffee. Sizzle up a BBQ and roast marshmallows over the fire pit in the evenings under starry skies.

The village of Cilmery (2.5 miles) has a well-regarded traditional inn and there is a request-stop train station for the Heart of Wales Railway Line. Shops and a choice of cafes and restaurants can be found at pretty Builth Wells (6 miles) where you can ramble along the River Wye. Outdoor Active Life (13 miles) offers gorge walking, kayaking, canoeing, and rock climbing – ideal for thrill seekers, while the Elan Valley (8 miles) offers relaxed walks and picturesque picnic spots. Such a wonderful place to stay. Rose and Dean made us feel so welcome. The Shepherd Hut was beautiful, warm, and cosy despite the sub-zero temperatures outside! Incredible views, great amenities, just wished we had booked to stay longer. We hope to return!

The shepherd hut was the best I've ever seen . . .. wonderful to come back to after our autumn walks. Great to cook our evening meals as local offerings aren't as good as my cooking!

This is a delightful place in which to stay for peace, quiet and relaxation. The views were outstanding and along with the numerous birds on the feeders and the sheep in the field next door there was enough to sit and look at for quite a while.
