Walking trails from the front door lead you to the foot of the Skirrid. The climb to the top is exhilarating and will reward you with 360-degree views across the Brecon Beacons, Malverns and the Forest of Dean. The atmospheric ruins of Llanthony Priory (11.5 miles) are breathtaking, particularly at dawn or dusk. It’s also a great spot for stargazing. Get in the holiday spirit with a visit to Sugar Loaf Vineyards (5.5 miles), located on the lower slopes of the famous mountain. Spend a relaxing afternoon sampling the Welsh wines and admiring the lush views over the Usk Valley.
