This beautiful, unique shepherd's hut with a wood burner provides the perfect romantic retreat from which to explore the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline.

Relaxation is the key when you choose this couple’s retreat tucked within the grounds of the owner’s farm. Set on the cusp of the village of Lamphey 2.5 miles from the coast, you’ll soon be setting off for exciting rambles. Reward yourself with lunch in the local pub, returning to stoke the wood burner and snuggle up inside your cosy shepherd’s hut. On warm evenings there’s nothing quite like stargazing by the fire pit, sharing a bottle of wine and locally sourced goodies.

This quirky property is tucked in an idyllic position amongst a large, lawned garden that boasts a picturesque, unfenced pond. Marvellous countryside views can be admired from all angles, giving you a fantastic backdrop for al fresco suppers prepared on the BBQ/fire pit. Your abode may be compact, but it certainly doesn’t scrimp on style. The open-plan space is fully equipped for preparing meals to enjoy at the breakfast bar, and there’s a snug built-in sleeping space complete with a TV for casual viewing. Completing the property is a handy shower room, and there is a wood burner to keep you toasty as well as underfloor heating for the coldest mornings.

Freshwater East is 2.5 miles away and offers a stunning sandy beach and easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, making this a great choice for walkers. For history seekers, Pembroke (2.5 miles) has a wealth of landmarks to explore including the imposing castle, and any keen foodie will delight in the array of restaurants available. Further afield, the iconic coastal town of Tenby (8.5 miles) is a must-see with its multiple beaches, historic harbour and beautiful stone walls. This is a great destination for hopping onboard a sea safari or taking a boat trip over to Caldey Island.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in Horseshoe hut. It is in a gorgeous location with just one other hut several yards away. A convenient 10 minute walk to the village and it's hostelries and 5 mins from ruins of Lamphey Palace which were a nice surprise to visit and explore. We've mad a couple of minor suggestions to the owners to make the stay a bit more comfortable during the excessively hot weather! Hide
