  • 17th century detached farmhouse set in a rural location at the top of a picturesque valley
  • Cosy up beside the wood burner inside when it’s chilly or dine alfresco on sunny days in the garden
  • Perfect for family holidays with a wealth of walking and cycling trails from the door
Property code: 88014

Enjoying a rural location with far-reaching views across the valley, this spacious farmhouse is great for families and groups that want to get together and make the most of the outdoors.

Set high in the uninterrupted Llanover Valley and surrounded by farmland, you will find plenty to do here. There are well-marked footpaths from the door which you can follow to explore Blaenavon Common or head to the local country pub. This is also a great spot for discovering the breathtaking scenery and exciting attractions of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with The Big Pit at Blaenavon, Brecon Mountain Railway, Zip World Tower, and Raglan Farm Park all within 30 miles. For walkers, you can enjoy Sugar Loaf (8 miles), Blorenge (5.5 miles), the Black Mountains (19 miles) and Pen y Fan (32 miles). The area also serves cyclists and water sports enthusiasts well. The rivers of the Usk and Wye Valley are 5 and 30 miles away respectively, whilst Llandegfedd Reservoir is 8.5 miles away and Llangorse Lake is 22 miles.

Enjoy the views as you climb up the valley towards the farmhouse, set within its own grounds and bound with traditional stone walling that further adds to its charm. When you arrive you step into the porch where you can leave your boots after a day in the hills. The original stone slate flagstones lead you into a cosy lounge with large comfy sofas that is perfect for getting together in front of the large wood burner, here you’ll also find board games, books, and a TV for entertainment. From here you can access the spacious kitchen/diner, the hub of the house, with a well-equipped kitchen for the chef amongst you, which includes an electric oven and hob, microwave, coffee machine, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. There is a generously sized square table and chairs, it's the perfect place for everyone to gather around, spend time together and enjoy hearty meals. There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor with feature fireplace and original beams as well as a separate shower room with WC.  Head upstairs, where guests are offered the choice from three large bedrooms, all of which benefit from king-size beds with sumptuous bedding. Enjoy waking up to incredible countryside views from every window. There is also a  spacious family bathroom with a large walk-in shower and a separate bath plus WC. Packed with modern comforts but also retaining the traditional beams and exposed stone detailing that make this a stunning place to stay.

Step outside into the enclosed rear garden, which features a sheltered dining space and BBQ. With plenty of space across its spacious lawn for games and more, this is the perfect spot for entertaining and enjoying the surrounding views. From sunrise to sunset, there is a place to sit and enjoy the stunning scenery. Plus on a clear night you can enjoy stargazing in the dark skies overhead. There is off-road parking for three cars and storage for bikes.

We had a wonderful week in the cottage. The location when the sun was out was stunning and we might revisit in the summer. The cottage is done to a very high standard, lovely kitchen and comfortable lounge. Plenty of room for everyone, we were a family of 7 with 3 dogs and did not feel cramped. The bedrooms are also very comfortable. The only downsRead moreide the access is down a very long track and at times the potholes were difficult to miss, but well worth the effort. Hide

The location was perfect and lovely for our children and dogs. The cottage was so comfortable and clean and the beds were the comfiest we have stayed in. Only down side was the lack of hot water. A lovely quiet, rural location with beautiful views, at the end of a long lane!. The cottage is very comfortable for a family or group of friends who like walking, cycling and exploring the Brecon area. We stayed for a family wedding at Three Pools Farm - a lovely place too.
