Immerse yourselves in the natural beauty of both Wales and England when you stay at this cedar lodge in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom retreat is 1 mile from Goodrich, with its 13th-century castle, and 6 miles from Monmouth, and enjoys magnificent views out across the River Wye. Return from your many excursions to bake supper in the pizza oven or to bask beside a roaring wood burner at this romantic holiday home for all seasons.

Climb the stairs up to your bijou bolthole, which sits above a garage, where you can keep bikes and canoes, as well as your car. Marvel at the panoramic views from the light-filled lounge/kitchen/diner, which has a vaulted ceiling, before you fire up the wood burner or settle down to catch up on your favourite boxset on the Smart TV. Prepare mouth-watering meals for two over in the well-equipped kitchen area then pour yourselves a glass of wine and sit down to eat against the backdrop of the rolling countryside. When you are ready to lay your head on your pillow for the night, make your way through to the double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room. Spend summer afternoons out in the private garden before cooking dinner in the pizza oven or on the BBQ. Sit out around a glowing chiminea, chatting long into the night.

Enjoy canoeing, fishing or cycling in your picturesque surroundings. Head into Monmouth to go shopping and to see the castle. Ross-on-Wye, 5.5 miles away, is also well worth a visit. Plan a day trip to Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as Brecon Beacons National Park, 19 miles away in Wales. Visit Abergavenny, 23 miles away, renowned for its magnificent collection of outlets and eateries serving and selling Welsh produce.
