Perched on the England/Wales border, this quirky, picture-perfect shepherd’s hut offers the ultimate escape in the countryside, where you can experience heavenly peace from the everyday stresses of life. Its striking location atop of a hill means nothing, but total tranquillity with breath-taking views that await you from your private terrace, but rest assured the village of Kington is not too far and has all the amenities you might need.

Swing open the huge door to the cabin and the first thing you will notice is the spectacularly designed open-plan layout, providing you with everything you could need in one place, without feeling cramped or enclosed. Adorned in neutral, calming hues to mirror the serenity of the outdoors within, the delightful bench seating that lines either side of the hut is cushioned for comfort, with lots of colourful pillows scattered along the backs. You’ll also get to sit right by the wood burner, so you’ll be extra toasty of an evening!

Simplistic yet functional, the kitchen may not have all the trappings of a contemporary household space, but it makes up for that with exuding charm. Heat up a kettle of water on the gas hob for a morning coffee or make use of the gas oven for a quick and simple supper, preparing anything to go alongside it on the sleek, rustic wooden work tops.

When you’re ready to rest your head, step up into the built-in double bed for the cosiest of sleeps; feel the soft blankets on your skin and be enveloped by a bed so delightful that you just might never want to leave it, with views out across the mountain range beyond. There are even two additional pull-out single beds, just in case you have two little guests who might want to join the adventure.

If you’re looking for a refreshing wake up the next day, the shower room is perfect. A few steps across the terrace and you’ll come to a separate wooden cubicle, complete with shower and composting WC – a true sense of going back to nature!

Outside, the spacious terrace is ideal for entertaining, sitting back and enjoying the peace and quiet, or simply for admiring the view. Two seating areas are available, one with a round table complete with a parasol for shade from the summer sunshine, and one space with bench seating and cushions to keep you comfortable. There are acres of grounds to explore and of a night time, don’t forget to take a moment to look up at the stars where you will experience some of the clearest skies you’ll ever lay eyes upon. Don’t forget to make a wish if you’re lucky enough to see a shooting star!

Firstly, an absolute idyllic location with gentle rolling hills and breathtaking views. Most importantly, it was quiet and isolated; truly 'at one with nature'. Although the accommodation was basic and rustic (which is fine), it still needs some general love and care. The lighting is appalling; there isn't a proper fridge and using the eco toilet iRead moren the pitch black, across the rainy decking is an experience. Not suitable for disabled guests or for the faint-hearted. Cheap and cheerful. Hide

Fantastic quiet location, great facilities - the dog towel was a godsend as we forgot ours! A great base for lovely walks, and the Shepherds Hut had everything you could need. Thank you

This was a fabulous getaway. Star gazing was spectacular with little light to distract. Sunsets lit up the sky and the views were breathtaking. This was a very well set up shepherds hut, decor was well thought out, and the peace and quiet was really something that was so refreshing.
