This delightful shabby chic property, with painted floors and cosy wood burner, has access to a large public green and is within walking distance of the centre of the market town of Hay-on-Wye, which is home to the annual literary festival. A great bolt-hole in Hay on Wye with the generous added bonus of the arts events at The Globe in Hay included during your stay. So, when your holiday is all about quality-time exploring, and spending as little time as possible in the car, then this lovely cottage is in the perfect location. Within a short walk of the property there is a selection of shops, art galleries and a deli. On a Thursday, you can visit the weekly market or enjoy lunch at the various cafes. Also in town, visit one of Wales’s favourite art centres, The Globe in Hay,  or visit the world famous annual Literary Festival which happens in the last week of May. Take a stroll down to the The Warren, the local “beach” by the river, which is perfect for a picnic or a swim. In nearby Glasbury you can rent a canoe.  For walkers and cyclists head to the Brecon Beacons National Park where you will find plenty of walks and places to explore by bike. Visit Llanthony Abbey, nestled in the beautiful Llanthony Valley, or head to Abergavenny or Hereford where you can visit the cathedral or do a bit of shopping.

The accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: 3 doubles. Bathroom: with roll-top bath, separate shower and WC. Lounge: with feature fireplace, TV and DVD. Dining room: with woodburner (first basket of logs included). Kitchen: with oven and hob, microwave, fridge, coffee machine, dishwasher and washing machine. Outside: private enclosed terrace area with bistro table and storage area for bikes. Access to large public green is set across a pedestrian lane. Additional info: steep and narrow stairs. Amenities: public car park nearby, however, visitors are able to park temporarily to unload belongings on the double yellow lines just outside the cottage but are required to move to free public car park down the road (2mins away) for remainder of stay. IN THE HEART OF HAY: Gorgeous shops, a scattering of art galleries, delicious deli and more than thirty book shops within 5 minutes walk.  No wonder it's our favourite Border town! Top tips within walking distance are the bread and cheese stalls at the Thursday market and lunch at Booth's Bookshop Cafe.

INSTITUTE OF ART & IDEAS: The Globe at Hay is one of Wale favourite art centres and is right on the doorstep!  Guests staying at this cottage get free tickets to any events during their stay......it's also a great space to simply hang out with a coffee and hunk of chocolate brownie!

BY THE RIVER: Take a stroll down to The Warren on a sunny day, the local "beach" by the river, perfect for a picnic, or a swim. Rent a canoe in Glasbury & enjoy some lunch in the neighbouring River Cafe, you can even rent a Vespa scooter from them too!

GO FOR A PEDAL: On the edge of the Brecon Beacons Park, the Black Mountains tower above, spectacular walking within easy reach. Pick up a set of pedals, mountain or road, from Drovers Cycles to explore by bike.

POP ON A PONY: Tregoyd is the local riding centre, just a couple of miles from town, with rides for every level of experience and nerve!  Beginner rides available, and day treks, including a pub stop, are available too.

CULTURE & CASTLES: Take a spectacular drive up the mountain road and discover the Golden Valley with Norman Castles at every turn. Or try the Capel Y Ffin Road over the breath-taking Gospel Pass, to discover the ruins of beautiful Llanthony Abbey, leading on to Abergavenny and some fabulous restaurants. Hereford is worth a visit with the Mappa Mundi in the Cathedral and Church Street perfect for retail therapy!

SLEEPING 2 - 6:  Three double bedrooms, complete with bedlinen and towels. There is a hairdryer, iron and ironing board available too.  Please note the stairs are steep and unsuitable for the infirm.

ENTERTAINMENT:  The wide variety of arts events run by the Globe at Hay (just next door) are included during your stay.

RELAXING:  Cosy sitting room with sofa, armchairs and an open fireplace.  HD TV and DVD player with Wi-Fi available.  Separate dining room with wood burning stove, dining table and chairs for up to six and a basket of logs provided.

COOKING:  Fully equipped kitchen with all the pots, pans and gadgets you should need.  Includes, oven and four ring hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge , washing machine and coffee maker.  There is no freezer.

BATHING:  Good sized family bathroom with roll top bath, basin and loo.  Towels included.

OUTSIDE:  Terrace with bistro table and chairs.  Complete access during your stay to The Globe at Hay, including free tickets to any of their events scheduled while you're on holiday.  You also have use of their half acre of enclosed lawn and garden.

LOCATION :  A Cottage in Hay is in the perfect location for exploring Hay on Wye, as everything is within walking distance.

PARKING:  The cottage is located in a quiet side street behind the Globe In Hay.  Parking outside the cottage is for temporary loading and unloading of luggage. Free parking is available less than a 5 minute walk away across the river.   You will be advised by the owners on arrival.
