Relax in the hot tub, watch the birds in the trees and soak up the serenity of this orchard setting at Talgarth, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. This stunning, two-bedroom holiday home sleeps up to four guests and also allows one canine companion to join them. An impressive, single-storey, 21st-century retreat, the eye-catching abode is in an excellent location for long hill walks and cycle rides, as well as reaching the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye.

Enter the appealing property, which benefits from an abundance of glass to really make the most of its setting and has underfloor heating, via a hall with access to a utility room. Follow on through into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which can be found down some steps. Cook tasty holiday food in here to enjoy at the table or out in the fresh Welsh air. Relax on the comfortable seating in front of your favourite film on the smart TV or simply take in the verdant views. Choose between a super-king-size bedroom, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if required, plus a king-size room. The bedrooms share the family shower room. Spend as much time as possible out on the decking; light the BBQ on warm evenings and unwind in the hot tub with a glass of chilled wine after each busy day. Find parking for one car at the property.

Stroll into the village to go shopping and to see the watermill. Walk less than 1 mile to the Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve, 17.5 hectares of beautiful ancient woodland, sloping down to the banks of the River Enig where there are waterfalls. Drive 8 miles into Hay-on-Wye to while away an afternoon or two in the book shops and other independent shops, as well as galleries, cafes and tearooms.

Great location and facilities were exactly what we were looking for. Views from the property were fantastic and there is even a stream at the bottom of the garden. A bit hard to find, and a walk down some steps with all your baggage from the car, but overall a great property.

The lodge is set within a pretty orchard, in a quiet location, with easy access to the local shops. Would highly recommend Talgarth, which we found to be a lovely and friendly place.

Apple Tree Lodge is stunning, the perfect place to switch off. The attention to detail is excellent. We had a wonderful time, it was a wrench to go out for the day to explore but well worth it - there are lots of walks and activities nearby, plenty of great places to eat and the local shops were well stocked. We are already planning our return trip

We very much enjoyed our stay at Apple tree lodge and Talgarth. The Christmas bottle of champagne was a very welcome surprise and came to good use while enjoying the hot tub. The perfect lodge for a little hiking holiday! It was beautiful and we enjoyed snowy views from inside the lodge, watching sunsets, sunrises and the little birds eating the apples from the trees. We loved it so much and really enjoyed the village it was close to. It had everything we needed and was completely perfect. Would definitely return.

We recently stayed as a family at Apple Tree Lodge for a week and were delighted with the accommodation. The setting was gorgeous and Talgarth was an excellent base for exploring the Brecon Beacons. Very good cottage with good equipment. However, since we were there during a heat period, there was no sun protection for the terrace. Likewise, sun protection would be useful for the large windows.

Overall the cottage is wonderful with use of a hot tub and in a lovely location. Perhaps there should be a gate at the top of the steps to prevent the dogs from going up near the cars. I would recommend the property because hopefully it was just a blip with the cleanliness.

A lovely property in a lovely location. The property is decorated to a high standard and very comfortable beds/bedding it was spotlessly clean. The location was lovely and it felt we we far from home but only an hour away. The only difficulty was the access for my elderly mother as the steps down were a struggle for her. Would highly recommend.
