A 15TH CENTURY QUIRKY GEM OF A PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE WYE VALLEY.

This period property retains many of the original features and has been lovingly furnished with antiques to enhance the house’s charm.  Offa’s Dyke runs right past the door making this ideal for walkers and cyclists alike.

Sitting on the English/Welsh border this area has a lot to offer.  Footpaths and riverside walks lead direct from the property, and The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley are all within easy reach. There is an abundance of National Trust properties locally, Hergest Croft Gardens, Croft Castle, Berrington Hall, and Hampton Court Gardens are all within easy reach.  Hay-on-Wye is a treasure to visit - famous for its bookshops and festivals, it still retains its old market town atmosphere.

This spacious accommodation is set out over four floors and offers EIGHT bedrooms:  On the first floor - 1 king-size bedroom, 1 bedroom with fabulous four-poster bed and 1 double bedroom.  On the ground floor, which has two woodburners, there is 1 king-size room, 1 double room as well as 1 single room.  On the lower ground floor, there is 1 twin zip-and-link bed (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request).  The loft bedroom has 3 single beds. 

Bathroom:  with roll-top bath, shower and WC, on the first floor.  Shower room: with shower and WC, on the first floor.  Wet room: with shower and WC, on the lower ground floor.  Lounge: with woodburner (first basket of logs included) and Bose sound system, on the ground floor.  Second Lounge: with woodburner, SkyTV and DVD, on the first floor.  Dining room with table to seat 16, Kitchen: with Aga and electric oven, 2 fridges with ice compartments and dishwasher. Utility room: with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The Aquarium Recreation Room*New*  Just a stroll away from the main house, cool and funky, light and spacious, this room has been lovingly created with every thought directed to chilling out and slowing down.  With a full-sized pool table, Bose speakers and dock for your personal choice in music, drinks cabinet, quirky lighting, comfy sofa and stunning aquarium frieze all around the walls - you'll need to be dragged away for Sunday lunch.  The room is fully insulated, making the most of the roaring wood-burner whenever you need it.

Outside:  terrace with seating and patio area with lawn.  Amenities: Ample Parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and limited Wi-Fi included.

WALKING & CYCLING:  Offa's Dyke, the natural border between England and Wales runs right past the door...breakfast in Wales, lunch in England!  There is superb walking along the marked trail and numerous local hills to walk, climb or pedal...simply take your pick - local guide books are available in the house.

CASTLES & CULTURE:  Croft Castle is worth a trip - 1500 acres of woodland and parkland, so it's worth bringing a picnic. The castle hosts a number of events throughout the year -  check out what's on during your stay.  Berrington Hall is another National Trust Treasure within easy reach and is home to one of 'Capability' Brown's final landscapes.

TOUR THE TOWNS:  Hay on Wye, a Sugar & Loaf favourite, is home to the internationally renowned Hay Festival at the end of May each year. and is easily reached from Old Burfa.  Nearby Presteigne and Kingston have thriving craft industries and Hereford with its Cathedral, home to the Mappa Mundi, is also within easy reach.

A PINT AT THE PUB: The Stag at Titley is the nearest local and a delight to visit with its Michelin star!  The Harp Inn at Old Radnor is also well worth a visit.

SLEEPS 8 - 16:  Seven bedrooms, plus a large triple loft bedroom.  A ground floor king-size bedroom, double bedroom and a twin room.  Lower ground floor:  a twin bedroom.  First floor: a large king-size bedroom with a four poster bedroom, and another double bedroom.

RELAXING:  Two great spaces to relax in:  an upper drawing room, with wood burning stove, Sky TV and DVD, leads to a garden terrace. Ground floor sitting room with wood burning stove, Bose sound system, Wi-Fi (signal can be patchy in parts of the house). Two baskets of logs are provided and more wood is readily available from local shops.

THE AQUARIUM RECREATION ROOM:  *New*  Just a stroll away from the main house, cool and funky, light and spacious, this room has been lovingly created with every thought directed to chilling out and slowing down.  With a full-sized pool table, Bose speakers and dock for your personal choice in music, drinks cabinet, quirky lighting, comfy sofa and stunning aquarium frieze all around the walls - you'll need to be dragged away for Sunday lunch.  The room is fully insulated, making the most of the roaring wood-burner whenever you need it.

DINING:  Dining room with dining table and chairs with seating for up to 16, leading out onto a pretty garden terrace, with additional outdoor furniture.

COOKING:  Farmhouse kitchen with 3 oven electric Aga, separate electric cooker, two fridges, each with a freezer compartment, dishwasher, ample crockery, cutlery and glasses etc.

KEEPING CLEAN:  Three beautiful bathrooms, each fitted to a high standard with towels included.  One ground floor wet room style shower room, with basin and loo.  Plus two first floor bathrooms, one with bath, wet room style shower, basin and loo, a second with shower, basin and loo.
