This adorable yurt is superbly positioned to walk directly up into the Black Mountains straight from the door, or simply sit back, relax and take in the far reaching views across the rolling Herefordshire Border countryside.  Blessed with beautiful night skies, days filled with birdsong and butterflies, as well as a great selection of local country pubs in the surrounding hills and valleys - bliss!

Set at the top of a private orchard on the Herefordshire side of the Welsh border, a county famed for its apples and cider, the yurt is designed just for two, offering uninterrupted romance and escape, yet friendly help and advice on hand should it be needed.

The sturdy wooden deck which supports the yurt has been created to make very best use of the views, with an alfresco kitchen (handy sail cover overhead just in-case).  There is hot and cold running water, a proper butler sink and an ingenious wood fired pizza oven, as well as a dining table, lazy loungers...and well, more of that view!

Nip through the door into the yurt and you can't help at marvel at the craftsmanship behind the ornately painted blue frame.  It's cheerful colours and light filtering through the roof window gives the structure a deeply calming feel.  It is the perfect place to retreat into, whatever the hour. Complete with clever hand-made bed, a good mattress, pretty bedlinen and our favourite feature, the roll top bath tub, this is one stay where it's all about romance...well and views of course!

There is a low coffee table, beanbags and cushions for lounging too, a thoughtful selection of books, piles of candles, a wood burning stove to keep you cosy and should you decide upon a lazy day, you need only throw open the doors and enjoy the outdoors from the bed!  For a back to nature escape with every comfort considered, we think you'll love this yurt. The walks from the door are fabulous, yet simply sitting back and enjoying the views is pretty unbeatable too.

We'll leave it to you how best to enjoy your time there.

COUNTRY PUBS:  Great Welsh Border pubs within easy reach, from The Bridge at Michelchurch Escley, The Temple Bar & The Dog in Ewyas Harold, all get rave reviews and there's a traditional country pint to be had in the nearest village of Longtown too.

WINE & DINE:  Romantic meals are assured at Toi et Moi, a fabulous French restaurant in the pretty Golden Valley village of Abbey Dore, booking essential (01981 240244). Hay on Wye & Abergavenny have great restaurants too. Enjoy a Michelin starred lunchtime treat at either The Walnut Tree Inn  or The Hardwick.

WALKING: There is some seriously fine walking from the door. The Black Hill (from On the Black Hill fame) & the Black Mountains themselves can be reached directly from the yurt.  Simply head off through the gate! The 285 km Offa's Dyke Path, the 8th Century Border between England & Wales, is easily reached (if not completed!) for the very keen...or just take a long walk down the lane to the pub!

CYCLING:  As great as the walking is, there is also great road biking along the picturesque lanes, and challenging mountain routes up on the hill. There are MBT centres throughout the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains for those who like to get a little muddy!  Bike hire is available in nearby Hay on Wye.

TOWNS & VILLAGES:  Longtown, with its award winning village store, Hopes of Longtown, is just a 5 minutes drive away, perfect for the morning papers and to stock up on local supplies (highly recommend the ice cream)!  Hay on Wye, with its famous Literary Festival is just a 25 minute drive away, with 30 plus independent bookshops and stores, as well as some lovely places to eat.  Abergavenny is 30 minutes away with the Abergavenny Food Festival each September now proving one of the best in the UK.  The Cathedral City of Hereford, with the Mappa Mundi can also be reached in 30 minutes.

CULTURE & CASTLES: The Norman Conquest saw a large number of castles springing up in the Welsh Marches, many of which still remain in some form or other today. White Castle, Skenfrith, Longtown, Grosmont and Raglan Castle are certainly worth a visit for a touch of local history. There are lots of beautiful old churches and abbey's around too.

SLEEPS 2: Designed just for two.  Beautiful handmade bed, with deep, cosy mattress - bedlinen and towels included.

RELAXING: Wood burning stove inside the yurt with plenty of logs available. Large beanbags, coffee table, floor cushions. Outside dining table and chairs, plus two hardwood reclining chairs with cushions for the deck.

COOKING : Hand made kitchen with really clever wood fired oven (really well suited to stonebaked pizzas), basin, hot and cold water. Equipped with all the crockery and cutlery you should need, handy washing up liquid, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, milk & local Tyrells crisps provided.

KEEPING CLEAN : Roll top bath inside the yurt, lashings of hot and cold running water, shower attachment.  A clean and very civilised compost loo!

MAKE A FIRE: There's a wood burning stove inside the yurt with logs at the ready to keep you really warm, a fire bowl outside the yurt for toasting marshmallows and getting back to nature, plus a wood burning pizza oven for rustling up some alfresco fayre.

STAYING CONNECTED: There is an electric charging socket within the yurt for phones / ipad's etc. We managed to get 3G whilst in the yurt, we can't promise that everyone will, but the EE/Orange network certainly kept us connected.

PETS: Sorry, no pooches allowed here.  Have a look at Black Mountains Yurt for a pet friendly stay.

ACCESS:  Access is all year round as this is the only  yurt with us set up for snug winter stays.  It is located at the top of a hill through an orchard, so those with mobility challenges might find access tricky .....and please pack your welly boots in the winter!

KIDS:  Please note that this is an adult only property.
