Set in the heart of Paincastle, this former chapel, originally built in 1828, has been sympathetically restored offering original features with a contemporary twist, simply perfect whatever occasion.

Enjoy your own little piece of heaven in this beautifully converted chapel in the rural hamlet of Painscastle in Mid-Wales. Escape the hectic pace of everyday life as you soak up the tranquillity and immerse yourselves in the idyllic Welsh countryside, with a choice of rambles, hikes or strolls from your doorstep. The stylish interior will make it easy to relax, so if you don’t feel like cooking at the end of a busy day exploring, you can always stumble the few hundred metres to the local pub.

Within the four walls and vaulted ceilings of this former chapel, cool, contemporary tones work in harmony with the traditional-style furniture to create a luxurious feel and relaxing atmosphere. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is light and airy, but cosy once you are curled up under a blanket of an evening in front of the roaring wood burner. The original chapel chairs at the dining table add a sympathetic nod to the building’s past and the same could be said of the unique, wooden beds in both the king-size room and twin room upstairs both of which are en-suite.

The National Trust’s easily accessible uplands The Begwyns are 2 miles away and offer breath-taking, panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons. For those a little more energetic, horse trekking is available nearby or Offa’s Dyke National Trail, a 177-mile long path, passes approx. 6 miles away from the property. Another delightful trail, the Wye Valley Walk, passes through Builth Wells (13 miles) and offers a variety of stunning scenery and landscapes. For something more sedate, while away the hours on the boating lake at Llandrindod Wells (19 miles) before strolling around the shops and museums or enjoy a spot of coarse fishing half a mile away.  Alternatively, lose yourself in one of Hay-on-Wye’s many bookshops, cafes or independent shops (6 miles).
