STYLISH PINK COTTAGE ABOVE TALYBONT-ON-USK IN THE HEART OF THE BRECON BEACONS

Nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of the Brecon Beacons National Park, mountains, reservoirs, great country pubs and views for miles, the cottage is a treat to uncover.  Picnic above the cottage looking out across the Black Mountains, or stride out for miles straight from the door.  Bike hire easily available too. The cathedral town of Brecon lies in one direction, Crickhowell and foodie haven Abergavenny  lie in the other, with bookish Hay on Wye a delight for those who love to spend a day rummaging through bookshops and antique stores.

One of a pair of pretty pink adjoined cottages converted from the stables of their beautiful parent manor house, there is an abundance of views, birdsong and country living style from the moment you arrive.  Step through the old stable door into open-plan living.   Put a match to the wood burning stove and relax as it blasts out the heat throughout chillier months.  Have lazy breakfasts on the terrace when the sun shines.  Keen cook, Joanna has ensured that the kitchen is the pride of the cottage and super well-equipped.  Also included are fresh local eggs and juice to enjoy with your local bara brith on arrival.

The accommodation offers ONE bedroom: elegant and comfortable king-size bedroom. Chic bathroom with shower over and WC.  Lounge/kitchen/diner:  open-plan with wood burning stove, one basket of logs included, TV, DVD.  Kitchen area:  well-equipped with electric oven and hob, washer/dryer, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, microwave.

Outside:  shared terrace and rambling garden, garden furniture.  Amenities:  parking for two cars Bed linen, towels, electricity and central heating included.

Regret no pets and no smoking

TOWNS & VILLAGES:  Very well located between our favourite four Welsh towns of Hay on Wye, Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny.  The cottage is a top spot for exploring independent stores and Welsh heritage.  You can also be in the capital, Cardiff, within 40 minutes.

WINE & DINE:  Whether it's a country pub, or the finest of Michelin starred fayre, there is something for all tastes.  One of Wales best pubs, The Felin Fach Griffin is within 10 minutes drive, a Sugar & Loaf favourite with a free round of local drinks for S&L guests when you dine (mention it when you book your table).

LOCAL FAYRE:  With the Welsh Venison Centre just a five minute drive in the car, a great new deli in Brecon, as well as the delicious local Llanfaes Dairy for ice cream puds, there are great ingredients in abundance.....making cooking on holiday more of a pleasure than ever!

SNOOZE IN A SPA:  Peterstone Court is a grand old country hotel a few short miles away, with relaxing spa and treatment rooms, as well as a swimming pool available to spa guests.

ON THE RIVER:  The Rivers Usk & Wye are both nearby for fishing.  Day permits for the River Usk are available in Crickhowell and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury, conveniently located beside a delicious cafe.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Elizabeth Anne, 29th March 2019

The cottage was lovely. Very clean, warm and comfortable. It's quite a drive along a narrow lane but well worth it if you enjoy peace and quiet. It was well located for some stunning walks in the Brecon Beacons.

Jackie, 11th March 2019

A very comfortable and cozy cottage in a very quiet position. Ideal for walking and peace and quiet. Very warm, welcoming and nicely furnished. Would certainly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a tucked away retreat in beautiful walking country.

Susan, 10th September 2018

Lovely location but quite remote. Challenging drive along single lane county roads.

Andrew, 27th August 2018

We cannot rate the cottage higher, we had a lovely time, great location for walking, cottage was perfect for the two of us, very cosy and well furnished. If you are looking for a place for a cosy getaway we would recommend it.

Caroline , 30th July 2018

This cottage was just what we needed! A cosy little hideaway from the world. Our hosts were super helpful prior to arrival, but we didnt see them once when we were there (absolutely zero issues with the property!) which made it feel calmly secluded. I would 100% recommend to any and everyone!

Ann, 23rd July 2018

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go. We loved the complete peace and quiet. It's a real gem of a place and the cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished, but it feels homely and practical as well for an outdoor holiday. Perfect for walking and cycling which is what we wanted to do and we love the area. This is definitelRead morey one of the nicest self catering cottages we have stayed in. Owners friendly and welcoming but leave you in peace. Hide
