Nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of the Brecon Beacons National Park, mountains, reservoirs, great country pubs and views stretching for miles, this property is a treat to uncover.  Picnic above the cottage looking out across the Black Mountains or stride out for miles straight from the door.  Bike hire easily available too.  The cathedral town of Brecon lies in one direction, Crickhowell and foodie haven Abergavenny lie in the other, with bookish Hay on Wye a delight for those who love to spend a day rummaging through bookshops and antique stores.

One of a pair of pretty pink adjoined cottages converted from the stables of its beautiful parent manor house, there is an abundance of views, birdsong and country living style from the moment you arrive.  Step through the old stable door into open-plan living.  Put a match to the wood burning stove and relax as it blasts out the heat throughout chillier months.  Enjoy lazy breakfasts on the terrace when the sun shines.  Keen cook, Joanna has ensured that the kitchen is the pride of the cottage and is super well-equipped.  Fresh local eggs and juice are provided to enjoy with your local bara brith on arrival.

Sumptuous linens, pretty curtains and outstanding bedroom window views await you upstairs.  A very comfortable king-size master bedroom with  an elegant bathroom next door and Korres toiletries setting the tone for relaxation.  In addition, there is a pretty, pink upstairs sitting room to relax in and more beautiful views.

Pick your perfect picnic spot up on the grassy bank, (there’s a helpful picnic rug in the cottage), explore the rambling garden or spend a night stargazing on the terrace, enjoying the display from the International Dark Sky Reserve.  Whatever the time of day, the views are pretty special.

WALK & CYCLE:  Something for every level of fitness:  miles of gentle strolls and cycle rides along the Brecon & Monmouth Canal, or hours of arduous (yet rewarding) uphill hauls within the Brecon Beacon mountain range. Talybont Reservoir is within very easy reach with lovely trails to explore.

TOWNS & VILLAGES:  Very well located between our favourite four Welsh towns of Hay on Wye, Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny.  The cottage is a top spot for exploring independent stores and Welsh heritage.  You can also be in the capital, Cardiff, within 40 minutes.

WINE & DINE:  Whether it's a country pub, or the finest of Michelin starred fayre, there is something for all tastes.  One of Wales best pubs, The Felin Fach Griffin is within 10 minutes drive, a Sugar & Loaf favourite with a free round of local drinks for S&L guests when you dine (mention it when you book your table).

LOCAL FAYRE:  With the Welsh Venison Centre just a five minute drive in the car, a great new deli in Brecon, as well as the delicious local Llanfaes Dairy for ice cream puds, there are great ingredients in abundance.....making cooking on holiday more of a pleasure than ever!

SNOOZE IN A SPA:  Peterstone Court is a grand old country hotel a few short miles away, with relaxing spa and treatment rooms, as well as a swimming pool available to spa guests.

ON THE RIVER:  The Rivers Usk & Wye are both nearby for fishing.  Day permits for the River Usk are available in Crickhowell and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury, conveniently located beside a delicious cafe.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Susan, 10th September 2018

Lovely location but quite remote. Challenging drive along single lane county roads.

Andrew, 27th August 2018

We cannot rate the cottage higher, we had a lovely time, great location for walking, cottage was perfect for the two of us, very cosy and well furnished. If you are looking for a place for a cosy getaway we would recommend it.

Caroline , 30th July 2018

This cottage was just what we needed! A cosy little hideaway from the world. Our hosts were super helpful prior to arrival, but we didnt see them once when we were there (absolutely zero issues with the property!) which made it feel calmly secluded. I would 100% recommend to any and everyone!

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go. We loved the complete peace and quiet. Idyllic. Really quaint and the cottage was finished to a very high standard without loosing any character - absolutely charming. Very high standard spec throughout the interior and clearly a labor of love. Before booking, we had reservations about being right next door to the owners however the whole stay felt completely private and a million milesRead more away from the rat race. Hide

We had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend this cottage. Its very quiet and we could only hear sheep, but only a short drive to the village where there is a local shop, cafe which does an amazing breakfast, some nice pubs and bike hire. Good facilities including washing machine and dishwasher. We will definitely be returning.
