A delightfully converted barn on a working farm with a country pub and the Brecon and Monmouth Canal very close at hand, and Goytre Wharf making for a great morning stroll. Well located to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in one direction and the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons in the other. Just a short drive from the Severn Bridge, with easy access to Cardiff, Monmouth, Usk and Abergavenny, perfect for shows and food festivals throughout the year. The market town of Crickhowell is also just 25 minutes away, crowned the winner of the UK's best high street 2018. A short 45 minute drive will lead you to the majestic Pen y Fan. A beautiful mountain with breath-taking views. In the Welsh borderlands you will find Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle and The Roman Fortress in Caerleon, all within easy reach. Big Pit is also well worth a trip with children, a chance to head underground in a real mine.

Enter this cottage, newly refurbished in 2019, into a hallway with the delightful lounge to your right. This welcoming room has comfortable sofas framing the warming wood burner with a basket of logs ready for your arrival, there is also a TV/DVD and a bookcase with plenty of books and board games to keep everyone entertained. From the hallway, head through to the kitchen/diner, which is spacious and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Sit, chat and plan your day at the inviting kitchen table. Upstairs on the first floor there are two characterful bedrooms, with exposed beams, both with en-suites. The master bedroom is a king-size and has fine rural views and an en-suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom has a twin zip-and-link bed (which can be made up as a king-size on request), this also benefits from an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC, making this a super retreat for families and couples alike.

Outside there is off-road parking for two cars. Lots of lovely, sunny spots around the grounds to enjoy with your own table and chairs provided, BBQ and acres of fields that you are very welcome to explore. There is an exclusive lawn area for guests just across the courtyard, an ideal space for children to play or for everyone to enjoy a picnic.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Margot , 5th July 2019

Perfect. Welcoming hosts, gorgeous location, comfortable, spotless, terrific kitchen. We stayed 7 nights and were sorry to leave.

Susan, 27th May 2019

This cottage is utterly charming in a magically rural setting. Walks from your doorstep up the Brecon Beacons, pubs just a stroll away, and the more gastro restaurants (The Hardwick and The Walnut Tree) a short drive away. The rooms and bathrooms were light and comfortable, the kitchen very well equipped (with nice gestures such as olive oil, salt,Read more tea, coffee, sugar and a lemon cake provided) and the sitting room cosy with plenty of books lining the shelves. Garden gorgeous! Hide

Becky, 24th May 2019

Lovely hosts and great base for walking/ hiking/ being in the countryside. Property very clean with lovely little touches. Sarah was very friendly and always responsive.
