A secluded spot in the forest for a cosy couple’s break. Get back to nature and explore walking and cycling trails along the River Wye and into the Brecon Beacons.
Embrace the great outdoors with a stay in this remote cabin, just north of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The romantic hideaway is perfectly placed for two guests who love exploring on foot, with many walking routes leading away from the property. Wander into the literary mecca of Hay-on-Wye (1 mile) to explore the cute bookshops or journey deep into the Black Mountains for rugged landscapes and dramatic views. At the end of the day, return to your woodland bolthole for drinks around the firepit.
This timber-clad cabin is simply stunning, in a tucked-away location surrounded by trees. The exposed woodwork continues inside the property, making it feel very natural and homely. The cabin is glass fronted, bathing the open-plan living space in light, and giving you front-row seats to admire the forest’s wildlife. The double bed is located to the rear of the cabin, where you can snuggle up to watch the SkyTV or just lie and listen to the sounds of the birds. Outside, as well as the firepit, there’s a BBQ and a charming spot for you to enjoy an al fresco meal. You’re also welcome to explore the owner’s land surrounding the property.
Beautiful Hay-on-Wye is a must for the itinerary. The picturesque town is packed with quirky bookshops, along with fascinating antique stores and cute cafes. After a mooch around the shops, head down to The Warren, a river beach on the banks of the Wye, to eat your lunch and paddle in the water. You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to walks in the area, but a particularly stunning route takes you to the top of Hay Bluff (6.5 miles), where you can experience far-reaching views across the Wye Valley and Welsh mountains.
