These two properties are set amongst miles of rolling countryside which stretches out ahead of you. Wild horses and mountain sheep lazily cross your path as you drive into the National Park from Hay on Wye. The farmhouse is remote and rural, yet just ten minutes to the lovely town of Hay-on-Wye famous for its bookshops and festival yet still retains its old market town atmosphere. Some of the best walking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons is right outside your door or you can hire a bike from Hay-on-Wye and take one of the mountain bike rides. Visit one of the many National Trust properties, Hergest Croft Gardens, Croft Castle, Berrington Hall or Hampton Court Gardens. Leisure facilities: private hot tub (additional cost of £150 a week or £120 for a short break, payable at time of booking).

The main farmhouse offers THREE bedrooms: 3 doubles. Bathroom: with roll-top bath, shower and WC. Lounge/diner: with open fire, TV and DVD. Snug: with TV and Xbox, on the first floor. Kitchen: with electric oven and hob, and TV. The barn offers TWO bedrooms: 2 double. Bathroom: with roll-top bath, shower and WC. Separate WC on the first floor. Utility Room: with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside: courtyard area. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. 2 dogs welcome. WALKING: Some of the best walking in the Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons right out the front door. Lord Hereford's Knob and Gospel Pass are just above the farm house.

MOUNTAIN BIKES: The stunning walks surrounding you are also fabulous mountain bike rides, with a route for every level, both MBT and Road cycling. Bikes can be hired (and delivered!) from nearby Hay on Wye.

RIDING: The Llanthony Valley is the otherside of Gospel Pass and home to a couple of trekking centres, which offer day rides throughour April - October. Tregoyd Riding is apx 3 miles down the hill and offers lessons for tots as well as trekking for all ages.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT: For the more adventurous the list is endless with gliding, rock climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, rafting, canoeing, archery, caving and pot holing etc.

SOMETHING MORE SEDATE: Thankfully there are plenty of options for quieter days, such as exploring nearby Hay on Wye, famous for its annual Hay Festival of Literature and its countless bookshops, eateries and very local stores. The Cathedral town of Hereford is also 25 miles away.

TOP TIP: The River Cafe in Glasbury is our favourite local spot for delicious authentic Italian food and the best latte for miles around. Just a short drive down the hill. You can pick up the morning paper in the garage next door too.

SLEEPING 5 - 10: Five luxury double bedrooms in total. Three large double bedrooms in the main house, all with lots of storage and cosy duvets, hairdryer available. Two large double bedrooms in the barn with large brass beds, no outside noise apart from the occasional sheep bleeting and a chorus of bird song!

ADDITIONAL GUESTS:  This is a sleeps 10 but has two double sofa beds so can take up to 14, we also have Hidden in the heart of the hills not far from Great Escape Farm , a private nest of beautiful handmade shepherds’ huts providing accommodation for 8 guests - please refer to Great Escape Glamping 42859 as needs to be booked separately but great if you have a larger party than 14.

COOKING: Spoilt for choice! The main house has a very well equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, flat screen television and breakfast bar. The barn has an open plan kitchen with lovely oak units and an electric oven and hob.

DINING: Lots of choice again: relaxed in the kitchen of the main house, or walk through into a lovely dining room with open fire. Or in the barn with spectacular views across the mountains. Barbeque available.

RELAXING: Cosy sitting room in the main house with open fire, flat screen television, Sky TV and DVD. Upstairs den with X Box and sprawling sofas + Wi-fi. Wood burner and cosy sofas in the barn with flat screen television and DVD player as well.

KEEPING CLEAN: Luxurious bathrooms in the main house and barn, both with walk in showers and roll top baths. Upstairs loo and basin in the barn as well. Self contained laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, perfect for stashing muddy boots.

HOT TUB: Not everybody wants to bathe in the great outdoors, so there is an additional charge of £150 per week/ £120 for a short break, for the hot tub if you would like to use it, payable at the time of making your booking. This covers it being cleaned before and after your stay, with new filters and keeping it bubbly and hot whilst you are there.

DOGS: 2 dogs welcome however must be kept on a lead due to nearby livestock. Dogs only allowed in the kitchen area, not allowed on the furnishings, upstairs on beds or sofas. If this is ignored an extra cleaning charge could be applied

SECURITY BOND: There is a £350 security bond for this property managed by Sugar and Loaf.
