The property is a great place to unwind at, yet with so many place of interest vying for your attention in the area, you may not know where to start. A good place start would be Hay-on-Wye, which is famed for its characterful bookshops and no end of eateries. Stop by Talgarth Mills, or take a walk to Llyswen Hillfort. The Brecon Beacons is renowned for its scenery and walking trails. If you’re feeling energetic, try a well-prepared hike to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest point in South Wales. Train enthusiasts will love the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway; also those interested in Welsh history wouldn’t want to miss out on the Big Pit Mining Museum. There is also a fabulous local pub just a 5 minute walk away.

The cottage embraces its open-plan layout to good effect comprised of a main open plan living area and a separate shower room and is surprisingly roomy for two people. The living area has a dining table and chairs, couch and armchair all clustered round a wood burner, where full height windows look out onto the river. For entertainment, there is a radio for your use which is compatible with most mp3 players, smartphones and tablets. There is also a small TV/DVD in the main living area, together with a small selection of books and DVD's for cosy nights in. The kitchen area is fully fitted with electric hob, a combination microwave oven and a fridge with ice box. The bathroom includes a surprisingly spacious shower cubicle and WC. When it’s time to sleep, simply open the cupboard doors and a double bed pulls down easily into the room.

Stepping outside, there is a small front patio where you can relax and look out over the River Wye, or enjoy a BBQ together on a sunny day. There is also a more private lawn area to the rear of the property, an ideal space to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine. There is ample parking for one car close to the front of the property.

A cosy and comfortable lodge close to the River Wye with open fields to one side of the property. The Lodge is situated within the grounds of the Mill House where the owners live. Made to feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The lodge is in a beautiful setting. The only noise is the river and the birdsong - perfect getaway. The bed was cosy, warm and soft with a great vista out towards the river.
