Enjoying an elevated position overlooking the village of Lydbrook, this charming cottage offers a clever mix of both the old and new and is just perfect whatever the occasion or the time of year.

Perched on the fringes of a traditional little village in the heart of the Forest of Dean, this delightful cottage has pretty touches in every room and offers a gorgeous retreat whether you want to escape as a couple or a family. The unrivalled view of the village below is breath-taking as you approach the front entrance of the property, offering you something sublime before you even step inside the holiday haven.

Heading into the cottage, you’ll discover all the charm and character of the dining room; a sympathetically restored space featuring an original bread oven and simple yet warm colour scheme. You’ll love being able to sit down with loved ones and enjoy a delicious supper together in the homely room.

Take a step into the lounge and you’ll find striking exposed beams and a warming wood burner, which combine to create a cosy atmosphere for you to unwind after a day of exploration. A subtle blend of muted tones adds to the calming aura of the space, where you can lounge on the comfortable leather sofas adorned with a plethora of cushions, curl up and watch a film together, or simply catch up with friends.

The contemporary kitchen, found at the rear of the cottage, is wonderfully equipped for you to perfect your culinary skills. From an electric oven, microwave, and fridge with ice compartment, to a dishwasher to save you getting your hands dirty and a washing machine if you so feel the need to use it, there are plenty of facilities available. The elegant Mandarin tiles also perfectly complement the worktops and tones, so not only will you have everything you need in one space, but it is a beautiful kitchen in which to cook.

On the ground floor you will also find a family bathroom. This beautifully tiled room gives you the opportunity to relax in style; draw a bath or enjoy a hot shower, washing away all of life’s stresses in an idyllic space.

When the day is done, climb the cottage style stairs to discover two gorgeous bedrooms, the first of which boasts a king-size bed at the heart of a chic, relaxing room. Elegant touches lend the room to be a pure delight to retire to at the end of a long day, plus it also has an exquisitely designed en-suite shower room with WC. The second of the two rooms also has a king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be made into a twin on request).

Outside, there are stunning views to be seen from the enclosed gardens, complete with a table and chairs. Whether you choose to admire the early morning sun whilst sipping a cup of coffee, or make use of the BBQ and enjoy dining al fresco of an evening, you’ll love the cottage’s outdoor space.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Overall a charming cottage with quirky features and plenty of room for 4 adults plus a baby and dog. Location was good to get to activities and walks. The cottage style stairs are very steep & uneven and my Mum ending up falling down them on the last morning so be aware that may cause issues.

A lovely cottage with nice enclosed gardens set in a lovely part of the forest. The rooms are compact, warm and cozy with all of the equipment that we needed for our stay. Lovely place to stay with lots of beautiful walks close by and places to visit. Heard the long eared owl call most nights. Will have to return as we didnt have time to go searching for beaver. This lovely property is set well above the road so has a very private feel to it. It stayed cool inside despite the heat and the garden was lovely to sit out in. The cottage is well decorated and clean and tidy with comfortable beds. The downstairs area is well appointed and the kitchen is well equipped. We had a great holiday here, it is very peacRead moreeful (the road is not over busy) and there is lots of different things to do in the area. Hide

Clean well equiped cosy cottage. Love the garden is private as we spent a lot of time sitting outside. The walk to the cottage up the path is not as bad as it sounds and the car was safe parked at the bottom and could be seen from the house. We would all come back again.

The property was first class, probably the best we have stayed in over the years of self catering. The facilities were great and the house lovely and warm when required. This was a lovely cottage to spend a family Christmas. The kitchen is well equipt with a modern oven and hob. Beautiful, immaculate cottage, sensitive restoration blending original features with modern, quality fittings. Warm, comfortable and welcoming. Possible to drive up the steepish hard surfaced track to unload by the gate then a good parking 'bay' off the road right opposite. Nice walk up the track into the forest plus wonderful autumn views from theRead more windows and garden. Short, cottage staircase might not suit everyone but a stout banister rail helps with support. Great location for Forest of Dean and surrounds. Lydbrook village is however limited and the house parking is also restricted to a roadside layby on a busy road due to the elevated podition of the house on the steep sloping hillside. Access then on foot on a part made track. No issue for the fit and healthy but worth noting. The house itself is nicRead moree bar a vague feeling of damp in the downstairs in the evening. Wonderful cottage in a fantastic location. Peaceful, private and cosy. Compact, but well laid out with some original features and a mix of modern design. Sunnyside Cottage is well maintained & clean. The beds are comfortable with quality bedding. However, the 'cottage style stairs' are 'challenging'. The top treads slope downwards and could be hazardous for young children or anyone with a disability. Parking is across a busy road and cottage is up a steep unmade track which makes loading/unloading aRead morerduous and dangerous. Hide
