Close to the River Usk, this light and spacious lodge offers cosy holiday accommodation for two guests. An idyllic romantic getaway, the property has been beautifully updated and retains many original features including exposed ceiling beams, stone flooring and a traditional wood burner. This pretty cottage lies in a gorgeous rural spot between the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons, and sits within 15 acres of the owner’s garden. A picturesque single-level lodge, there are plenty of gentle strolls from the doorstep, with miles of beautiful walks and bike trails throughout the surrounding woodlands and valleys.

Approached via a blossom-lined driveway, this oak-framed lodge features a spacious, refreshing and relaxing open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with exposed beams, underfloor heating and charming views. The lounge has a warming wood burner, comfortable seating, a TV and a selection of books, providing the perfect space to snuggle up at the end of a great day. There’s also a cute dining area, perfect for sharing a romantic meal which you can rustle up in the stylish kitchen. The double bedroom is full of character and there’s also an invigorating shower room. Outside, the garden has an extensive lawn dotted with chestnut and oak trees, and a private patio with outdoor furniture and a BBQ.

The lodge is perfect for walks along the River Usk and throughout the Usk Valley. The thriving market town of Abergavenny (8.5 miles) has plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops and pubs. Local attractions include Usk Castle, Raglan Castle, Goytre Wharf (all within 5.5 miles) and the Big Pit National Coal Museum (13.5 miles). With the Brecon Beacons National Park to the east and the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the west (both within 9 miles), walkers, cyclists and hikers will have lots of superb countryside to discover.

We would highly recommend Holly Cottage, we spent the Christmas period there and was just perfect. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely walks on the doorstep. Our little dog made a friend in Toby the residents dog who often popped in for a treat. We will definitely be re booking.

Lovely cottage, great bolthole for a short break. Vanessa was very welcoming with nice welcome touches on our arrival. We found some great local walks and pubs , travelled to both Pen-Y-Fan and an amazing waterfall walk with Sugarloaf closer by.

The Lodge was exceptionally well equipped. Going well beyond what you would need, eg cutlery and pots plentiful for several people, not just the two required. Bed very comfortable and bedroom very large. The walk in shower room was so easy to use and clean especially if you are used to shower cubicles. Couldnt fault anything, Vanessa and Ian supplied everything you need from logs for the fire to a starter pack of goodies and a lovely bottle of wine. The bed, & sofa were comfortable, the lodge was well stocked with towels, bed linen, logs for the fire and all the utensils you need for your stay. The lodge is in the perfect peaceful spot. Quiet and almost off the grid. There are lots of close villages worth a look. It has all the comforts of home, including good knives, which was a nice surprise! Plenty of wood available for the fire, a comfortable bed, and a lovely sunny patio. Bliss! Highly recommended.

Holly Lodge was fabulous we felt welcome from the moment we arrived, the lodge had everything we needed and more, the surrounding fields for walking our dog was an added bonus, the lodge was bigger than we thought and although next to the owners property felt very private. The views from the lodge were beautiful even on the poor weather days.
