Hay-on-Wye is a truly unique town. As well as its plethora of bookshops, you’ll find fascinating antique stores, fabulous eateries, and exquisite architecture. In summer, join the locals at the riverside beach, The Warren, where you can enjoy a picnic and a splash in the water. There are also some gorgeous walks from here, following the River Wye. Heading south, you’ll come to the Black Mountains, where you’ll find rugged scenery and jaw-dropping views. Climb to the summit of Hay Bluff (6.5 miles), at the northern tip of the mountains, for a spectacular vista across the Wye Valley.
