Dating back to 1832, this converted stone barn by the banks of the River Wye offers bags of traditional character, with an unexpected modern twist

Utterly charming throughout, you and your friends and family can relax in comfort and style in this beautifully renovated, 18th-century barn conversion. Nestled in the quiet village of Llyswen on the north-eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons, you and your loved ones can immerse yourselves in the rural beauty of the Welsh countryside with long walks from your doorstep and beyond. At the end of a busy day, treat yourselves to a hearty meal and a cheeky tipple in the local pub.

With a charming blend of traditional, original features and contemporary fittings, this property feels warm and welcoming throughout whilst maintaining a sense of space. Spend quality time together in the open-plan living area, whether you’re cooking, relaxing or dining, and then head to bed in one of the quirky, yet delightful, bedrooms. Meanwhile, the spa room with an indoor hot tub will make your stay extra special. There are three bathrooms and a utility room to complete the accommodation while, outside, an enclosed patio is ideal for a morning coffee.

Keen walkers and cyclists will be in their element with so much breathtaking scenery to take in and the Brecon Beacons National Park’s highest peak, Pen-y-Fan, only 14 miles away. Water sports enthusiasts will also be spoilt for choice as the nearby River Wye and Llangorse Lake (8.5 miles), Wales’ biggest natural lake, are idyllic spots for fishing, canoeing and sailing. On the north-west shore of the lake, you can hire a range of boats and equipment or enjoy a refreshment. If you fancy a wander around a quaint historic town, they don’t come much better than Hay-on-Wye (8 miles) with its unrivalled number of bookshops and independent retailers. Beautiful and well appointed house, in a good location for exploring and hill walking. Liz was great, the house was really clean, warm and comfortable.and the hot tub was a brilliant plus for us all. Would also recommend the Griffin pub (few mins walk away along the main road). A really enjoyable break away and lovely holiday home.

We had a great holiday, the house accommodated two families well with everything you could possibly need. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. The pub (griffin) a two minute walk away is also well worth a visit. Good location to walk the river wye, visit Brecon, hay on wye and other locations in the Brecon Beacons.

Lovely large barn conversion with friendly owners on hand if required. Our young adults enjoyed the hot tub. It was hot whilst we were there and therefore had the windows open. Being situated on the main road through Llyswen it could get noisy as it was quite a busy road. Otherwise great base to explore from
