Retreat to this gorgeous, period house just inside the Brecon Beacons National Park. Up to six people are welcome to stay at the property that dates back to the 1500s and has an abundance of wonderful features. Located in Llanvihangel Crucorney, 5 miles from Abergavenny, the four-bedroom home from home also has a delightful English country garden. Plan long walks through undulating surroundings or play croquet on the lawn.

Prepare to be impressed by the magnificent panelling and exposed stone and woodwork at this exquisite house. Retreat to the study with your book, or the lounge, where you can stoke up the wood burner and watch a good film together on the Smart TV/DVD. Wander through to the inviting farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to pop a roast into the Aga or to prepare a hearty breakfast, and dine together at the large dining table. There is also a utility room and a WC on the ground floor. Make your way up to the first floor where three double bedrooms are situated. Two are separated by wooden panels; one has an extra day bed and the third, which can also be entered via stone steps, benefits from an en-suite shower room. There’s a fourth final room that has a small double bed that could suit a child if arranged in advance. A bathroom, with free standing clawfoot bath, and a shower room are also at this level. Spend time outside in the pretty garden; light the BBQ and find outdoor games in the stone coach house. There is parking for three cars at the house.

Head to the foodie town of Abergavenny, known as the Gateway to Wales to browse independent shops; dine out while you are here in cafes or Michelin starred restaurants serving fresh local produce. Visit the priory ruins at Llanthony, 6 miles away, and have a day out in Hay-on-Wye, 17.5 miles away, pottering in the famous book shops.

Millbrook was a charming and well equipped cottage absolutely brimming with character, and we had such a wonderful time and are already desperate to come back again. The Aga kitchen made for warm and cosy mornings, and all of the well maintained period features had our children convinced we were staying in a haunted Manor House. We absolutely loved Millbrook a cross between a medieval manor and French Manoir and we feel privileged to be allowed to share your home and lovely garden. The house is rustic by nature and has been restored with sensitivity to retain its character. We found it comfortable and warm with good facilities. The surroundings are beautiful and traveling Read morea pleasure on the Welsh main roads and country lanes. Hide

This place has character in spades. A genuine medieval cottage - but with wifi. Beds were comfortable and the bath is lovely after a day in the hills. There are great walks on the doorstep -including smaller ones for smaller legs. The kids loved the garden and the games in garden store.
