COTTAGE OFF THE BEATEN TRACK WITH A MOUNTAIN IN THE BACK GARDEN, SLEEPS 4+1

This character property has been lovingly rebuilt from a humble ruin and set in a breathtaking, remote location surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside, with nearby beaches, walks from the door and fabulous cycle routes.

Perfect for action packed days and laid back evenings. Surrounded by over 100 miles of coastline, from rocky inlets to wide sandy beaches such as Porth Neigwl Beach, Llanbedrog, Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd to name a few. There are plenty of hills to explore as well and should you tire of the local ones then Snowdonia National Park is within 20 minutes’ drive and the castle towns of Caernarfon and Harlech are also close at hand.  With family attractions, galleries, museums and the beautiful coast and countryside famous for its walking, climbing, cycling and water sports there is something for everyone.

This accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) and additional day bed which can be made up on request.  On the mezzanine: 1 king-size overlooking the lounge (there's a discreet curtain for privacy).  Bathroom: with bath and WC, on the ground floor.  Lounge/diner: open-plan with woodburner stove (logs included) TV, DVD and views across the neighboring mountains.  Kitchen: well-equipped with oil fired Rayburn, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine.

Outside: large private garden, outdoor furniture, with your own hill right on the doorstep plus a pretty mountain pond.

Amenities:  ample parking.  Bed linen, towels, electric, and electric heating included. Regret no smoking. Regret no pets.  Additional info: the property is in an idyllic location, it is accessed along a basic track and low sports cars will struggle in severe winter conditions.

Location: pub 10 minutes’ drive.
Arrival: 4pm

SANDY BEACH:  Llanbedrog Beach offers a mile long stretch of sand and is one of the calmest beaches in Wales, sheltered by the huge headland of Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd.  Owned by the National Trust, you can be sure to find a decent ice cream nearby in summer months!

KID FRIENDLY BEACH:  Abersoch's main beach is worth a mention as it's super sandy and sheltered, so great for learning to water ski, sail or wake board.

SURFERS BEACH:  Porth Neigwl Beach, or Hell's Mouth as it's locally known, has fabulous waves. Pebbly at the top it's worth a visit at low tide for the sand

WALKING & CYCLING: The surrounding area is fantastic for walking, the Lleyn coastal path is a good place to start, or venture into Snowdonia.  Maps can be found in the cottage and there is a rather fine mountain in the back garden to start you off!

BITES TO EAT:  The Ty Coch Inn on the beach in Porthdinllaen is a well worth trying. Tafarn y Fic is a rather fun community owned eatery just a couple of miles away, or splash out and visit Michelin starred Plas Bodegroes for some really fabulous nosh!

CASTLES & CULTURE: The castle towns of Caernarfon and Harlech are close at hand, or try little Pwlhelli, where we found a few good local shops and the rare North Wales sight of a Costa coffee....sad to admit how welcome it was to see!

SLEEPS 2 - 5: Two bedrooms, a super king-size bedroom, with a zip and lock bed, so can be switched into a twin if necessary, this room has an additional single bed. A further mezzanine king-size bedroom. Crisp bedlinen, soft duvet, beautiful Welsh blankets and thick bedspreads included.

RELAXING: Large open plan sitting room and dining room with huge fireplace and wood burning stove. Farm house dining table, TV & DVD. Cottage is really cosy, with the Rayburn heating the kitchen and hot water and top up electric heating. Plus of course the wood burner.

KITCHEN: Farmhouse kitchen, well equipped with oil-fired Rayburn, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine.

OUTSIDE:  Large private garden in remote location, outdoor furniture and fabulous views.

ACCESS:  Mountain Cottage is in an idyllic location, it is accessed along a basic track and low slung sports cars will struggle in severe winter conditions.

SUM UP THE STYLE:  A rustic mountain retreat in an incredible location.

KIDS: Really welcome here, although no cot or highchair are available.

PETS: Sadly no pets

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

Heart icon

Sue, 1st July 2019

The location is stunning but badly let down by shoddy condition of interior. Grubby and tired, old food left in kitchen and fridge, small wardrobe full of stuff, battered old coat hangers. Uncomfortable settee needs replacing, toilet unhygienic and uncomfortable, heating system cant be adjusted, this place needs to be inspected by agency before letRead moreting out again. Not up to standard considering cost of rental. Very disappointed!! Hide
