This eco-friendly property with its own hydro-electric supply and rivers and mountains all around works really well for walking groups, a bustling family, or couples. There are market towns within easy reach and proper country pubs within a 5 minutes’ drive along the lane. Ideal for a family looking to get away from it all.  With walks direct from the door and views for miles across the Brecon Beacons National Park.  Take a stroll along the Brecon & Monmouth Canal with its popular Canal Food Trail. For riding the Black Mountains are home to several trekking centres the area is also great for cycling, challenging sub trans routes are nearby & bike hire and delivery is available nearby. Just 7 miles from Crickhowell, with independent traders, 12 miles from the Cathedral town of Brecon for larger shops and Welsh heritage, or 40 minutes from Hay-on-Wye. Growing foodie haven, Abergavenny with its Michelin restaurants and some independent gems, 20 minutes’ drive.

The accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: 1 king-size with a bath, 1 twin with en-suite shower and WC and additional cosy bedroom. Bathroom: with bath and WC. Separate WC with washing machine on the ground floor. Lounge: with open fire (first baskets of logs included), TV, DVD and beautiful views to enjoy. WELSH ACADEMY OF ART: Run by friendly owner Lucy, and located just outside of Cwmdu, the Welsh Academy runs a range of courses and workshops teaching classical methods of drawing and painting….unleash your inner artist!

BRILLIANT FOR BIKING: Frequent home to national bike races, the area is a mecca for MTB and road cyclists. A challenging subtrans route are nearby & bike hire and delivery is available in Brecon & Hay. There is also Vespa hire available for those who prefer to combine fresh air with a motor! The Brecon and Monmouth Canal is a good family friendly..and flat, option too!

PLOD ON A PONY: The Black Mountains are home to several trekking centres, with trails available for all levels, both family run, Wern Trekking Centre & Golden Castle have good reputations are are suitable for children and adults alike.

PUB GRUB: The nearest village of Llangynidr is just 5 minutes in the car, with two village pubs to quench your thirst. The Nantyffin Cider Mill, has a good local reputation for food, within 10 or so minutes and there are plenty of country pubs to be found throughout the hills.

WALK BY WATER: The Brecon & Monmouth Canal is 5 minutes drive away, with a recently improved tow path, or head a little further out to the Talybont Reservoir, both very enjoyable places to walk or cycle.

ROARING RIVERS: The River Usk which flows through Crickhowell is great for fishing, with day permits available from the Bridge Inn pub on the river. The River Wye is best picked up in Glasbury, where you'll find canoe hire experts ready to help you navigate its twists and turns, as well as the option to canoe into Hay on Wye, enjoy an afternoon shopping, then be collected at your leisure and driven back to the start point...with tempting Riverside Cafe awaiting.

SLEEPS 2 - 6:  Three bedrooms upstairs. Beautiful bedding and towels included in each room. A king-size master bedroom, which encompasses a bath & basin within the room and a well sized, en-suite twin room with two full size single beds and a single room.

RELAXING: Large living space with two comfy sofas, full central heating, open fire, tv, dvd, wi-fi. Large family kitchen with farmhouse dining table, range cooker/hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer (more freezer space available if needed).

KEEPING CLEAN: Downstairs cloakroom with loo, basin and washing machine. Each bedroom has access to a bathroom upstairs, a family bathroom with bath, basin and loo, an en-suite with shower, basin and loo. Plus a bath and basin in the master bedroom. Towels and lovely soap included. Iron and ironing board available.

OUTSIDE: A sunny terrace, with garden furniture in summer months, a barbeque, acres of space to enjoy and walks directly from the door.

PETS: Up to two well behaved dogs are very welcome downstairs, paws off the furniture please.

The barn was a cow shed and has been refurbed to end up with a cottage feel. Fabulous location and a glorious part of the world. Great for just walking from base. The 1.8 mile drive from Llangynider is lovely but could challenge nervous drivers but there are passing places and the arrival is well worth it. Our hosts were delightful and extremely heRead morelpful when a shower failed - even securing a plumber on a bank holiday. Impressive. Hide
