This exceptional property (originally an 18th Century farmhouse now modernised for 21st Century living), combines the traditional and the contemporary, and is perfectly situated for exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The deceptively spacious farmhouse is just 3.5 miles from Brecon, the northern gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The property sleeps eight guests and has a variety of social areas, making it ideal for large family get-togethers and celebrating special occasions with friends. There’s a large garden where children can play and a sheltered terrace for al fresco dining. Enjoy gentle strolls along the canal towpath or take on Pen y Fan (7 miles), the tallest peak in the national park.
The 18th-century property has been beautifully furnished to complement its period features; rich parquet flooring and vibrant soft furnishings sit alongside elegant, exposed beams and striking stonework. The bright and airy kitchen/diner has glorious countryside views and is the ideal place to gather around the large dining table to share a delicious meal and chat about your day. Afterwards, retire to the vast lounge where you can sink into the plump sofas in front of the wood burner and watch your favourite film on the Smart TV/DVD. In summer, enjoy long, lazy days in the large garden, where children can play on the lawn, and you can fire up the BBQ in preparation for an evening of great food whilst watching the sun set over the mountains.
The bustling market town of Brecon, with its magnificent cathedral and plethora of independent shops, is definitely one to add to the itinerary. After some retail therapy, unwind with a peaceful wander along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, one of the UK’s most picturesque waterways. The popular Taff Trail cycle route, which runs all the way to Cardiff, can also be joined in Brecon. For a quick breath of fresh air before breakfast, journey to Drostre Wood (2 miles), where you can follow a waymarked trail through the stunning nature reserve.
