A real beauty, as featured on the nation's favourite TV design show. Perched high up on Hatterell Hill, with breath taking views across seven counties & walks for miles in easy reach, the adventure begins the moment you open the gate.
Set almost a mile up, a 4x4 is an essential bit of kit. The views will keep you gasping, perched near the very top of the Black Mountains, just below the famous, natural English / Welsh boundary, Offa's Dyke. You can count off numerous landmarks on a clear day and the walking in the area is outstanding...it's easy to see why Grand Designs followed the build process in such a unique location.
Once inside, it's all about complete comfort and high luxury, with the cosiest of cottage finishes and warmest of welcomes from friendly owners who are reassuringly nearby should you need them. Warmth radiates from the Aga, the Welsh dresser is stocked full of jolly Cornish Blue tableware and the Smeg fridge is just one of the home from home comforts to be found.
With oak beams, deeply comfortable leather Chesterfield sofa, roaring log fire and all the modern comforts of underfloor heating and wi-fi, the sitting room also plays host to the dining table, a great room for relaxing & romancing.
Head upstairs for more snoozing and style, a master bedroom with every comfort considered, beautiful bedlinen, luxurious throws, multiple holiday reads and thoughtful touches, such as dressing gowns and a hairdryer.
There is a further bedroom, a double and each room enjoys a fabulous view across the Welsh Borders. A family bathroom serves them both, with roll top bath, over-head traditional shower, basin and loo, as well as towels provided.
Outside, the garden is private, perfect for bird spotting, barbeques & star gazing. Incredible views from the terrace, garden furniture and handy log store housing the washing machine and hose for dealing with the muddy paws and boots that accompany a day out in the mountains.
You may well be high up on the hill and feel very much off the beaten track, the reality though, is that once back down at the farm gate, it's simply a couple of miles in either direction to a choice of country pubs and the market towns of Abergavenny, Hay on Wye and Hereford are in very easy reach, making it a perfect holiday to do as much, or as little as you choose....enjoy!
