A beautiful, characterful stone-built cottage - perfect for 2 plus a dog. Wonderful to have a stream running through the garden which our dog just loved after a long walk. Comfortable, clean and quiet.

Hawthorn Cottage is very cosy & perfect for a couple & 2 dogs. The little patio area was beautiful with the brook, the dogs were straight in the stream after their walk everyday. Its quite dark downstairs, but the bedroom upstairs is spacious & bright with a spare daybed. Perfect location to see all the sights & youre in the Forest of Dean within aRead more 10 mins drive. Only negative is the garden wasnt enclosed as advertised, dogs can easily escape via the stream onto the road. Hide

Hawthorn Cottage is lovely, the steam that runs right through the small garden makes for perfect sleeping. The garden though small is very well laid out with tables and chairs. There is No grass area for dogs, but there is a large play ground is right across the road, and is all enclosed, so the dog can run free. The Poo bin is right by the gate, sRead moreo easy clean up. Great place would recommend highly. Hide

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this cottage. As mentioned in previous reviews, it is a bit dark downstairs if the sun isn't shining, but lovely and bright upstairs. Great base for visiting Symonds Yat and other areas around the Wye valley and in walking distance of 2/3 good pubs restaurants. Lovely and quiet too, just with the sound of the stRead moreream running alongside the property. There is small park very close by, so great for getting the dog out to first thing in the morning! The cottage is very comfortable and cosy and very well situated to get to all parts of the Forest of Dean. We had good weather and It was a joy to sit out in the enclosed garden beside the stream. The owners are very friendly and were very helpful when we had an invasion of flying ants due to the hot weather.

Pleasant and comfortable cottage. Interior is a little dark - not too bad if the weather is good but could be gloomy if the weather is inclement. Small, pleasant seating area outside by the brook. Shower is cosy and not for the very tall - but has got a seat. Several good places to eat nearby - a couple within walking distance. Nearest shops are inRead more Coleford, about 2 miles away. Hide

The cottage was really cosy and perfect for our needs. Taller people may have difficulty with the shower which is a bit cramped and the bed which has a solid base on the end. The cottage has all of the necessary amenities. The location was fantastic! Very peaceful and quiet village. Clearwell Caves are definitely worth a visit.

The location is wonderful, set in a beautiful village with so many walks right on the door step. A great base for exploring the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Very cute and comfy. Well equipped. Friendly but non intrusive owners at the farm next door. Good location to get to lots of interesting locations nearby. Lovely set lunch at Tudor Farmhouse and The Butchers Arms is great. Sitting by the stream is just lovely. Highly recommended.

This cottage is excellent for those on a walking holiday or sight seers. Not to be recommended if you want to stay there for hours in the day. The sound of the stream is lovely but the interior is rather dark. The shower cubicle has a bench in it which is a nice touch and useful if you are feeling frail. The main bed is quite comfortable but the seRead morecond bed isnt, though a child might not notice this. Be sure to stock up on food before arriving unless you plan to eat at the pub. Hide

Cottage was cosy, nice area to unwind and relax. Our journey was a bit long mainly due to motorway repairs, I would definitely visit again if it was more closer to home.
