Set within the fringes of a traditional village, this detached Grade II listed cottage is the perfect bolt hole for couples simply wanting to relax and enjoy an area rich in history and natural beauty

Secretly nuzzled in its own little plot on the fringes of Clearwell village, this pretty cottage is filled to the brim with charm and cosy touches, creating a sublime romantic retreat for two close to the Welsh border and Wye Valley. Your dreamy journey to comfort and relaxation begins before you even enter the front door, with a gentle mill stream to cross as you walk towards the garden. Amble across the teeny bridge over the water and head towards the entrance of your heavenly holiday abode...

Step inside the porch to kick off muddy boots and hang up your coat, before heading into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to discover the enchanting beauty of the cottage you’re staying in. A wondrous blend of eclectic styles and traditional charm, alongside splashes of vibrant colour, provide a lounge that’s cosy as could be; the comfortable sofas with sumptuous cushions and throws are perfect for sitting back and relaxing of an evening, the chilly nights made that much more snug thanks to the wood burner.

The bespoke kitchen is beautifully finished with white-washed cabinets, and is well-equipped with everything you could need, from and electric oven and hob, to a microwave and a fridge, so you can store all your local produce ready to create a culinary wonder during your stay. The dining table is ideal for two and in the centre of the open-plan area, so you’re never far from the kettle or the comfy armchair!

Just off from the kitchen you will find a handy utility space, complete with a washing machine in case you need to do any emergency washing while you’re away!

At the end of a long day of exploration, climb the stairs to the mezzanine floor in the eaves of the house for the ultimate relaxation spot. The room itself is simplistic yet perfectly formed, with a sumptuous double bed as well as a further single day bed. The open bannister allows you to overlook the lounge below, so the warmth of the wood burner can rise up and keep the bedroom toasty, whilst the openness of the floor lets the light flood in and keep the space airy. The en-suite shower room and WC means you’ll never have to go far for a refreshing wash either.

The outside space of the property includes the idyllic stream running through the garden, and a blissful private courtyard where you can sit and enjoy breakfast or a BBQ on the outdoor seating provided.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Hawthorn Cottage is very cosy & perfect for a couple & 2 dogs. The little patio area was beautiful with the brook, the dogs were straight in the stream after their walk everyday. Its quite dark downstairs, but the bedroom upstairs is spacious & bright with a spare daybed. Perfect location to see all the sights & youre in the Forest of Dean within aRead more 10 mins drive. Only negative is the garden wasnt enclosed as advertised, dogs can easily escape via the stream onto the road. Hide
