Set within private grounds, these two beautiful old barns have been cleverly and stylishly connected to create a gorgeous family home, complete with stunning views. Finished to a high standard, this property provides maximum style and comfort.
On the natural border between England and Wales with Offa's Dyke just a little further up the hill, this house is perfectly located with incredible walks and mountain bike trails right from the door. The Black Mountains are fabulous by horseback and there are numerous riding stables nearby. There are Norman Castles littered throughout the landscape and three historic castles, Grosmont, Skenfrith and White Castle, are all within easy reach, perfect for a day out exploring the Borders. Towns nearby include Abergavenny with its castle, shops and restaurants - just 15 mins by car whilst the Cathedral cities of Brecon and Hereford are just 30 minutes away. The region is great for walking, has a wealth of mountain bike trails within the area as well as canoeing through the Wye Valley.
This is a stunningly beautiful property in a secluded position and surrounded by lovely countryside. A much-loved home full of family photos and containing everything you will need for a perfect stay. The Wi – fi is sometimes patchy and due to the rural location, the showers are sometimes less than powerful but we know you will find this to be a gorgeous barn with a stunning view in the Black Mountains, as have the many guests before.
Inside are many internal steps. From the front door, a stone stairway leads down to a cosy den with TV, DVD Wi-Fi and Sky Sports. A few steps up and you reach the fabulously cosy drawing room with shelves full of books and a warming open fire with plenty of chairs gathered around for a lovely lazy afternoon or evening. There is also a spacious and stylish open-plan kitchen-diner which is found three steps down from the drawing room interlinked with this is large sitting room which is a beautiful glass conservatory which houses a comfortable corner sofa and wood burning stove. The kitchen is well-equipped with Lacanche electric range, dishwasher and microwave with the adjacent French dining table having ample space for 12 guests.
On one side of the property are stairs leading to two double bedrooms made up with super king-size beds (which can be made into twins by request at the time of booking). There is a bathroom with roll top bath and shower. On the next level is the master bedroom with super-king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with adjoining single bedroom. A further flight of stairs leads to two more super-king-sized rooms (which can be made into twins on request at time of booking) with another bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower.
Outside there is some fabulous outdoor furniture on the terrace as well as private grounds complete with trampoline, swing ball and sledges in winter months. There is also a BBQ. The property has a long farm driveway, so please be aware that it gets muddy in bad weather - pack some wellies!

Please note there is a refundable £500 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

POSH NOSH: You are spoilt for choice with some of Wales best restaurants within easy reach. Michelin starred, Walnut Tree Inn, is just a few miles away, as is The Hardwick Restaurant with its Michelin starred chef, Stephen Terry, or try the Bell at Skenfrith for a delicious Sunday lunch.

HUMBLE BITES: Simpler fayre can be found at the Queen's Head, which is just a walk down the hill. The Skirrid Inn, Wales oldest pub, is in the nearby village of Llavihangel Crucorney, just over a mile away and we'd recommend The Crown at Pantygelli for pet friendly pub lunches.

PEDALLING AROUND: If you have a bike, it's well worth bringing it. There's a Mountain Biking Centre apx a mile away from the barn, plus numerous trails through the hills and across Offa's Dyke. Road Cyclists will love the loops in and around the valley's, all tried and tested by the team...check out the things to do pages for updates and inspiration.

PONY TREKKING: The Black Mountains are fabulous by horseback and the nearby Llanthony Valley has a couple of good pony trekking centres, open typically between Easter and October half term for experienced riders and beginners. Out of season, Triley Fields Equestrian is 10 minutes away and great for more formal lessons.

TOWNS: Abergavenny with its castle, shops and restaurants is only 15 mins by car. The Cathedral cities of Brecon and Hereford, with the Mappa Mundi, are just 30 minutes away. Hay on Wye, with its famous Hay Festival of Literature is within 30 minutes - or cycle to the top of the hill and right along Offa's Dyke to get to Hay in the most impressive of fashions!

HISTORY: Set just down from the Welsh Border, there are Norman Castles littered throughout the landscape! Three historic castles ones, Grosmont, Skenfrith and White Castle are all within easy reach, perfect for a day out exploring the Borderlands.

Four more double bedrooms made up with super king-size beds (which can be made into twins by request at the time of booking). All bedding included. No Hen or Stag parties.

COOKING & EATING: Hand made, huge and fully equipped kitchen. Lacanche electric range, fridge, small freezer, microwave. Massive French dining table and chairs with plenty of space for twelve people to enjoy.
RELAXING: Three lovely rooms; a more formal drawing room, with open fire, elegant furniture and a cosy atmosphere, a cosy den, with huge sofa, large tv, dvd, wi-fi and Sky Sports and a large glass conservatory which houses a corner sofa and wood burning stove.
STAYING CONNECTED: Wi-fi throughout, can be patchy, so computer points in every room. Patchy mobile signal, land line available.
BATHING: Three beautiful bathrooms and one downstairs loo: en-suite with roll top bath, double basin and loo. Two upstairs bathrooms with roll top baths, showers, basins and loos.
OUTSIDE: Remote and beautiful location, with private grounds, trampoline, swing ball and sledges available (at own risk). Garden furniture and gas barbeque available in summer months. In the winter months it could be muddy and this needs to be considered when driving on the track leading to the property
ACCESS: Due to the rural location guests are advised to use a large vehicle or 4x4 if arriving in October and up to the first week in April. The barn has a long farm driveway, which will get muddy in bad weather, so it's best to pack the wellington boots for opening the gate on arrival.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this stunning barn conversion in Wales. So beautifully decorated, super clean, very well equipped and superbly comfortable bedrooms. Possibly the best cottage we have ever stayed in and a place we would aspire to. Easilys accommodate 3 x couples and up to 5 children. Trampoline, slide, swing, small football aRead morerea, lots of odd toys & books for little ones. Endless walks, views you can't take your eyes off, books and fire. Can't wait to return! Hide

Our family group had a lovely week in this beautiful house. We really enjoyed the peace, the views and the garden for children to play in. Inside it is very comfortable with good beds and plenty of places to relax. Felt storage space was a bit lacking, both in the kitchen and the bedrooms. Our cars were OK with the steep drive, but in mud and rain Read morethey probably wouldn't have been and a 4x4 would be needed. Hide

Lovely barn/house, decorated in cottage style with quirky furniture and lots of homely touches and ornaments. Spacious downstairs and very comfortable. Outside space, and views were amazing. Patios had all day sun and cushions and parasols available. Plenty of outside sporting equipment available to keep both adults and children amused. The long drRead moreiveway was a little difficult with an ordinary vehicle. There was no inventory on arrival of equipment/condition as you have to pay a refundable depo Hide

Wonderful place for a family Christmas. Lots of living space and a huge table for monopoly, jigsaw, crosswords. Very wet and muddy outside, but in better weather it would be brilliant.

Had a fabulous week with our 3 grown up children and their wives and families(4 children from 1 to 4 years old). Lovely, spacious, well-equipped cottage in an idyllic, remote setting - (dodgy signal and wifi isn't great) but we drove to Raglan Castle, Beacon Park Boats(recommended) and the Brecon Mountain Railway, as well as walking round the farm Read morefields and hills. Highly recommended. Hide
