As cool as it gets when you simply need to crash for a night or two! This property sleeps groups of up to 14, with the option to rent other rooms stretching the group to 20 persons if needed. Step inside the reception area of this beautifully converted chapel, past the row of Vespa's and Mountain Bikes lining up conveniently for hire and up the stairs and we promise you'll be impressed!

Greeted by a huge open plan living space with high ceilings, a great sense of light and space and the largest sofa we've seen to date! There's a wood burning stove, wi-fi and large tv too, perfect for lazing away the end of an active day. Stylish kitchen, fully equipped for rustling up your own meals and a sizeable dining table which can be either used for your own food, or you can order bowls of delicious fayre from the restaurant just next door, to be delivered directly to you.

Sleeping comprises twelve luxury single bunks, each with crisp bed linen, gadget charging points and reading lights, as well as a separate double bedroom. Complete with three incredibly stylish bathrooms, one of which is suitable for disabled access, each with a steamy power shower, basins and loo. There's a practical laundry and storage point for washing off and storing all your muddy boots at the end of the day!

The location is hugely convenient, lying directly beside the River Wye, canoeing in season is a great option, or stride out into the hills, the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park are on your doorstep too. Hay on Wye is a few short miles away and we highly recommend taking the scenic route, via the National Trust Begwns for one of the best views of the Welsh mountains you'll ever see.

Designed to make staying in the hills as simple as possible, everything can be arranged for you, from meals and packed lunches to daily activities, just let us know what your plans are when you book and we can help you design a stay to remember. If this property is booked when you want to stay, have a peak at the other two equally beautiful self catering alternatives within a couple of miles.

PADDLE THE RIVER: Canadian Canoes and single or double kayaks are available to rent right next door throughout the season (April-October), a wonderful way to explore the River Wye. There is also an area by the river which is perfect for a picnic or a paddle...roll up those trousers!

WALK THE HILLS: The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park are on the doorstep, either stride out from the door, or make life a little easier by driving up the mountain road towards Hay Bluff, there's often an ice cream van parked on a sunny day in what has to be the most scenic spot in the area, so it's worth a trip for the view alone.

PEDAL POWER: With bike hire available from your hosts and seven Vespa's also available for hire should you prefer an engine to do all the hard work! Fabulous trails around the Begwns and Black Mountains.

TOUR THE TOWNS: Hay on Wye, of book festival fame is just 5 miles along the road (or along the river, you can canoe there too), well worth a trip, for a coffee at Richard Booths and a browse of the 30+ bookshops. Brecon, Abergavenny, Crichowell and Hereford are all within easy reach.

HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO THE COOKING: Meals can be arranged daily, from a low key breakfast to huge bowls of steaming pasta after a day in the hills, your friendly hosts can cater to your needs...or simply pick up local ingredients in the Deli in Hay and rustle up delicious fayre yourself...whichever you prefer.

SLEEPING 10 - 14: Five star graded by Visit Wales, there are twelve dorm style bunks, plus a king-size bedroom (as GQ magazine quoted....perfect for passed out Stags!). Each with fresh cotton sheets, charging points and reading lights, and well designed to ensure as much privacy as possible.

RELAXING: Large open plan living space, with huge sofa and wood burning stove. An alternative to the stairs, why not try the heaps of fun to be had! There is a sound system, good mobile coverage and wi-fi available too.

DINING: Fully equipped kitchen and dining space as part of the open plan living room, meals can be pre-ordered and delivered throughout your stay, or nip next door to the great restaurant and enjoy great views over the river, as well as a very decent meal! Nibbles and supper can be arranged on arrival. The bunkhouse can also offer breakfast each morning, simply order upon check-in.

OUTSIDE: There is a private terrace area, which is perfect for enjoying drinks outside on a sunny day. There is also a table tennis area which is available each day for private use after 6pm.

KEEPING CLEAN: Three stylish bathrooms, each with power shower, basin and loo. There is a wash down point and laundry area as well.

DISABLED ACCESS: The bunkhouse has good wheelchair access, as well as a disabled shower room.

CHILDREN: Children are welcome, however the bunkhouse is very much designed for grown ups and teens, if you would like to stay with kids, please do just call and we'd be happy to discuss the layout in detail with you and help you decide if it's the right place for your group.

Thoroughly fun accommodation for children with the big shute- it kept our amused throughout the time we spent in the house, so much so they didnt want to go out walking!
