PEDALS & BOOTS: Something for every level of fitness; miles of gentle strolls and cycle rides along the Brecon & Monmouth Canal, or hours of arduous (yet rewarding!) uphill with the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains in very easy reach.
TOWNS & VILLAGES: Fabulously located between our favorite four Welsh towns of Hay on Wye, Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny. The cottage is a top spot for exploring independent stores and Welsh heritage. You can also be in the capital, Cardiff, within 40 minutes.
WINE & DINE: The White Swan Inn is in walking distance of The Bothy, with a good local reputation and open daily. The Felin Fach Griffin is a Sugar & Loaf favorite, with a free round of local drinks for S&L guests when you dine (mention it when you book your table).
LOCAL FAYRE: There's some yummy food to be sampled in the local restaurants and nearby farm shops. It's worth stopping off at the Welsh Venison Centre nearby for Venison, reared on site, or try the local cheese, Y-Fenni, made with ale and mustard seeds and Penderyn malt whisky shows off the Celtic distilling skills!
SNOOZE IN THE SPA: Peterstone Court, is a country hotel a few short miles away, with relaxing spa and treatment rooms, as well as a swimming pool available to spa guests.
BIRDS & FISH: Twitchers should be happy here, lots of beautiful birds around and the friendly owners will be happy to help point out a rare breed or two. The Rivers Usk & Wye are both nearby for fishing, day permits for the Usk available in Crickhowell and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury, conveniently located by a delicious cafe.
