The small village of Clearwell is peacefully tucked into the valley, though small the village has a bustling community and is well served offering two village inns and restaurant. The property neighbours Clearwell Castle which is a wonderful wedding and events venue. And Clearwell Caves where you can step back in time to the days of mining. For walkers you are surrounded by countryside with well waymarked paths that will guide you through some breath-taking scenery. Both the Forest of Dean and Wye valley are steeped in history with many medieval and market towns to explore, Ross on Wye, Monmouth, Tintern and Hay on Wye. And for a little more adventure outdoors there is canoeing and rock climbing at Symonds Yat, Mountain biking for all abilities throughout the Forest of Dean and for serious walking the Black Mountains just across the border.

This beautiful dovecote is perfect for two, Grade II listed and lovingly restored by the owners of the farm that it is situated within. The solid oak door opens onto the ground floor, the lime plastered walls and exposed wooden frame are enhanced by the contemporary style of furnishings, relax in front of the TV, or enjoy a simple supper with views onto the courtyard garden. The kitchen has been hand crafted with solid oak work tops and wooden shelving that slips into the background. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. So, when the day is done, climb the wooden stairs to the top of the dovecote where you will find a double bedroom set within the eaves, this circular room is full of character and has an en-suite shower and WC.

Step outside there is an open aspect courtyard area with seating where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sun and the church bells on a Sunday. There is off-road allocated parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We loved the quirky nature of the property. It is situated on a farm and is walking distance to the village. The pub, The Butchers Arms, does decent food. There is also a Tudor restaurant. We didnt try that but it certainly looked nice and was fully booked when we tried to get in. Plenty to do in the area. Clear well caves in the village are worth Read morea visit. The owner is very friendly and approachable and was keen to ensure we had everything we needed. Hide

The Dovecote was amazing, we absolutely adored this place. A lot of thought has gone into the design of The Dovecote, it is superbly equipped, spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. The position of the property gives guest privacy inside and out, it's a quiet area and the village is well served with two pubs and a restaurant. The accommodation was great - clearly not huge but really well thought out and really fun to stay in. Fortunate with the weather we really enjoyed eating outside to - entertained by the House Martins. It is well located in a quiet village with pubs and a restaurant in easy walking range. Strongly recommended.

A lovely, beautifully-restored, and unique place to stay, we had a great time! Well-located for stunning local walks, and there are three pubs within walking distance (two open at the time we stayed). Bed is really comfortable (pack an eye mask) and the kitchen has everything you need. The patio area is a little sun trap. Perfect for a short break.Read more Hide

Due to the design of the building and it's former use, it is a little dark inside, but this is perfectly compensated for by atmospheric lights! Great facilities, particularly the shower, very comfortable bed!

A sympathetic & stylish conversion of an old dovecote, this cottage is well presented inside and out, and well situated for a range of activities. The cottage was AMAZING!! Such a lovely little house. Really clean and comfy bed. It was nice and modern but not to modern that it took away from the structural layout and older feel to the house. Perfect for a first holiday or a long weekend
