Property code: 78375

A grade II listed dovecote that has been sympathetically restored, situated in the well served village of Clearwell, perfect for couples wanting to enjoy walking in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.

This unique romantic retreat is the perfect base for those who just love to be outdoors. You’ll be surrounded by exceptional walking opportunities, with both the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean easily accessible from the property. A must to add to the itinerary is Symonds Yat Rock (5 miles), offering one of the most iconic views of the Wye Valley. You’ll also be just 17 miles from the picturesque market town of Ross-on-Wye, with its narrow streets and stunning architecture.

The charming Grade-II listed former dovecote has been lovingly restored, with great care and attention taken to retain its original character. Solid oak features bring depth and warmth to the quirky open-plan living area, with vibrant soft furnishings offset against the beautiful lime plastered walls. Pour yourself a glass of Welsh gwin and enjoy a little cwtch on the sofa in front of the TV. After a restful night’s sleep in the stylish bedroom set within the eaves, say ‘bore da’ with a morning coffee in the courtyard, listening to the distant ring of the church bells and admiring your pretty surroundings.

The picture-postcard town of Ross-on-Wye is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon. Mooch around the independent shops and boutiques, before strolling through the town gardens and listening to some live music on the bandstand. There are a variety of waymarked trails to explore around Symonds Yat Rock, several of which link to the River Wye. The exhilarating climb to the summit of this ancient hill fort will reward you with breathtaking views and the chance to glimpse the nesting peregrine falcons.

Fantastic quirky little cottage. We had a 3 night stay here. Ideal bolt hole for two plus a dog. Has everything you need except a washing machine. Lovely, stylish venue. Very cosy and warm and the bed was very comfortable - excellent sleep. Everything we needed for a birthday weekend. Lots to see in the area and choice of pub/restaurants in the village. Our dog loved the nearby walks. Would happily come back.
