Keen walkers will be in their element here, with the breadth of the stunning Herefordshire countryside quite literally on the doorstep. The open-fronted stone barn was formerly the blacksmith’s workshop, but has now been lovingly restored into a complex, with similar properties, into a cosy rural haven, lined with lavender and beech hedged lawns. A delightful holiday is waiting to be had; the perfect place for a couple’s escape.
The original A-frame of the building has been carefully restored, providing an authentic backdrop to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Relax under whitewashed exposed beams and within wooden-cladded walls and get a true feel of country life. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine with a futon - a great place to hideaway with a holiday read - while in the lounge area spend those chilly evenings snuggled up in front of the crackling Swedish wood burner as you watch your favourite film. Come morning, wake yourself up with that first cup of coffee as you breath in the fresh country air on the terrace, or enjoy a refreshing dip in the outdoor heated swimming pool, which is available from 9am until 12 noon and shared with three other properties in the complex.
When you are not exploring the waymarked footpaths from the front door, head a little further afield to the Brecon Beacons (17 miles) and the imposing Black Mountains (24 miles), or spend your days touring the many National Trust properties this stunning area boasts: The Weir Gardens (14.5 miles), Croft Castle (9.5 miles) and Berrington Hall (14.5 miles) to name just a few. Get a taste of Herefordshire living in the nearby villages and towns; discover Hereford’s grand cathedral (18.5 miles), the literary prowess of Hay-on-Wye (16.5 miles), and the delightful local flavours at Ludlow’s food festival (18 miles).
