The more adventurous will enjoy day trips to the majestic waterfalls, walks along the mountain ridgelines, fishing on the River Usk, canoeing on the River Wye, or zippng across the fields at the local Adventure Training and watersports centre in Llangorse.  A great local pub is within very easy reach too!

TAKE A HIKE:  Whether it's a simple stroll across the fields for afternoon tea at the local country house hotel, or a serious stride up into the hills, the cottage is in a good location for all fitness levels and great for both the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and gentler Wye Valley.

PEDAL ON:  There is some exceptional road cycling, with great lanes to whizz down and a few routes to be found on Garmin worth following.  Mountain bikers will be in their element too. There is cycle hire available in both Brecon & Hay on Wye.

TERRIFIC TOWNS: There are some great little market towns around. Hay on Wye is possibly the most famous, with thirty plus second hand bookshops and a great place to pick up an original gift or two. Brecon is nearby with Cathedral, canal and Welsh culture to explore. Or, nip into Crickhowell, just a couple of miles away for a decent butchers, good pubs and lovely coffee shops. You can be in Abergavenny within 20 minutes too, with Tuesday market and some good new independent stores, such as Number 46 for on trend design and Vintage Vision for great vintage clothing.

GREAT GRUB TO COOK:  Meat lovers will really appreciate the Welsh Venison Centre, just a few miles further along the A40 towards Brecon.  We love Cashells, the friendly family butchers in Crickhowell,  which is great for a quick resupply of lovely food.

LET SOMEONE ELSE DO THE WORK:  Nantyffin Cider Mill is just a mile away, as is the dog friendly Farmers Arms in Cwmdu. It's worth a stop at The River Cafe in Glasbury, en-route to Hay on Wye, for a decent Italian lunch or a slice of home made cake, as well as there being a canoe hire centre right next door if you prefer to paddle into town!

FOR THE KIDS:  Something to do in just about every weather!  Pony trekking, climbing and zip wires (including the longest zip wire in Europe, which we can vouch for being great fun for teenagers) can be found in Llangorse, as well as various water sports on Llangorse Lake. There is a soft play centre and a cinema in both Brecon & Abergavenny.  Cantreff Adventure Centre has pony trekking for all ages, as well as an animal petting area.

SNOOZE IN A SPA:  Peterstone Court, is just a few miles away and a great place for a lazy day!  Includes a relaxing spa, treatment rooms and a swimming pool for spa guests.

GOLFING & FISHING:  Pop into the Bridge Inn in Crickhowell for a day permit for the River Usk. Or pack your clubs for some impressive golf courses, including the Celtic Manor, recent home of the Ryder Cup and the Rolls Golf Club in rolling Monmouthshire Countryside.

SLEEPS 2 - 5: Two pretty bedrooms, a double and a twin, plus an upstairs playroom/third bedroom with sofa bed. (This can be made up upon request at the time of making your booking) and is suitable for one extra adult. All bedding included.
